Super Stardust Ultra VR For PlayStation VR Sneaks Out

A VR version of Housemarque’s Super Stardust Ultra is heading towards PlayStation VR with no fanfare or official announcement. The first I heard of it is when I spotted the box in GAME at the weekend.

Further Googling reveals the game appeared on a few retails sites last week, but neither Sony or Housemarque have made an official announcement, so here is the blurb from the back of the box.

Super Stardust explodes onto PlayStation VR with a whole new perspective and a totally new way to play.

Pilot your star fighter and defend your planet once more, but this time jump into the cockpit and battle the alien invaders face-to-face. Get right down to the surface of the planet and the very centre of the action and fight using intuitive controls only possible with PlayStation VR: simply look to aim… then fire to destroy.

Play the original Super Stardust Ultra game modes enhanced for PlayStation VR for a brand new immersive experience, and battle for global domination in the online leaderboards. Will you claim the title of Best Super Stardust Pilot in the World?

Hustle Kings VR has also made an unscheduled appearance.

  1. It was one of the best 3D games I’ve played so I have high hopes for the VR version.

  2. I’m not surprised really, i think it was one of the first contenders for the 3D treatment. The cockpit view would certainly make it more appealing to me as a VR game but it’s going to be quite different from the standard gameplay.

  3. Pretty sure I spotted it on the store yesterday…

  4. how on earth can you play that game with a cockpit view?

    • I’m not sure on that either!

But the standard game is a great fit for VR. This was the first game to get trophies, one of the first with 3D support, and now VR.

Please say you don’t have to buy it again though.
