Split Screen Multiplayer Will Make An Appearance In WRC 6

Racing side-by-side.

With online gaming becoming more and more prevalent, local split screen has tumbled down the list of priorities for a lot of game developers. As they work on their second entry in the series, Kylotonn Games are bringing split screen play back for WRC 6.

WRC 6 is actually shaping up really well, and we’ll have our hands on impressions from Gamescom posted some time next week, as Kylotonn work towards a tougher, more sim like handling model and draw more inspiration from the real world rally courses.

The game is out in October for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, with more features still to be announced between now and then. For now, it turns out that there’s four different sets of cover art, depending on where you are in the world.

  • Citroën DS3 WRC (Abu Dhabi Total World Rally Team, Kris Meeke & Paul Nagle)
    France, United-Kingdom, Middle East, Brazil

  • Hyundai i20 WRC (Hyundai Motorsport, Thierry Neuville & Nicolas Gilsoul)
Benelux, Spain, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Korea

  • Ford Fiesta RS WRC (M-Sport World Rally Team, Mads Østberg & Ola Fløene)
Italy, South Africa, Eastern Europe, United-States, Canada
  • Volkswagen Polo R WRC (Volkswagen Motorsport, Sebastien Ogier & Julien Ingrassia)
    Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Scandanavia

  1. Ok Im interested now it has split screen

  2. Cannot remember the last time I played split screen multiplayer. Used it a lot in the past, a few mates round and plenty of beer led to some fun nights.

The last game was pretty good but as there’s so many very good racing games out now, or soon I think this will have to wait until a later time.

  3. I think Rocket League’s success has led to a renewed interest from developers as they see that it can really sell games, and I think that’s a great thing because split-screen is the best way to play with friends – for them to be in the room when you beat them!

  4. I don’t even like rally games (I’m terrible at them).

But I’ve just bought a G29 wheel (blame the DriveClub VR video for that) and I always love to support a developer including split screen. I’ll buy it and be terrible at it.
