The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Will Not Be Upgraded For PS4 Pro

CD Projekt RED has confirmed to Eurogamer that it will not be upgrading The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to take advantage of the PS4 Pro’s features. The studio has stated that to do so would be too time consuming with the majority of the team working on Gwent and Cyberpunk 2077. While the game does support 4K on PC it seems that it just wouldn’t be worth doing for console.

“Since we want to fully focus on Cyberpunk 2077 and Gwent [standalone game], and converting The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from a full HD game into a 4K one [on console] would be too much of a time and resource-consuming process, we decided not to release an edition of Wild Hunt supporting the new features of PlayStation Pro,”

It may be a bit of a shame to those who would like to experience the game in 4K on console, but The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a fantastic looking game regardless.

  1. Have to wait until it’s re-released on PS5…?

  2. It’s not surprising as they’ve only just ended support for it and going back to it for a new slightly more powerful PS4 isn’t worth the time. The amount of people that would buy it on the pro because it has a pro version(I dislike this name now. Pro is awful.) won’t be that much. It’ll be a mixture of people happening to get a pro and wanting to get this.

  3. Happy they’re moving on. Don’t want to be stuck with the same franchise when the mind is overflowing with new ideas.
