Michel Ancel Teases Something, But It May Not Be Beyond Good And Evil 2

Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been in a limbo state for a good few years now but hopes were raised when creator Michael Ancel posted the picture below with the caption “Somewhere in system 4 … – Thanks #ubisoft for making this possible !”

The inclusion of a humanoid pig does seem to suggest this may be Beyond Good and Evil 2, but according to Ubisoft that is not what Ancel is working on. Here is an extract from a recent interview on Gamespot with Yves Guillemot.

Michel Ancel is here today. My first thought was, “What is he doing here?” because he’s still an Ubi employee but only seems to be working on Wild, a game developed by his independent studio.

He’s doing two things. He has one game that he is doing as an independent and he’s also working on a game with Ubisoft.

An unannounced game?

Yes. An unannounced game.

As Beyond Good and Evil 2 has already been announced, and Ubisoft state he is only working on two games, Wild and the unannounced game, then the image above is probably not from Beyond Good and Evil 2.

So what could it be? Well a quick shout round the TSA office and we think maybe Ubisoft have gone cold on a full sequel and will be testing the waters with a smaller, less risky game which will be a prequel. Beyond Good and Evil Zero, if you like.

Yves may have his pants on fire though as he also said, just three months ago, BGAE2 was being worked on, but he did not specify exactly who was doing the work. Plus there’s the whole BGAE2 is exclusive to the NX rumour to consider as well, it’s all rather confusing.

  1. By God, I hope BG&E isn’t exlusive to Nintendo in any way – that would be unforgiveable.

    • Even if Nintendo was revealed to be fully supporting it and funding it when Ubisoft refused to?

  2. This one has vapourware written all over it… forget it, move on, and if it ever does get released you can be pleasantly surprised!
