Driveclub Season Pass Owners Can Upgrade To VR

If you already own the Driveclub Season pass – and don’t rush out and buy it now, you must have bought it before today – then you will be able to pick up Driveclub VR for £15.99 or €19.99.

If you don’t have the season pass then the game will cost £34.99 or €39.99. It has also been confirmed that there will by a physical release, although a quick search on Amazon reveals that it is currently not listed.

Driveclub VR will be a launch title for PlayStation VR and will drop on October 13th. If you were wondering who had finished off the game after Evolution studios were dropped by Sony, then read on:

The majority of the game was completed by Evolution, with the remainder carried out by a dedicated team comprised of Evolution Studios veterans, several of which now are also members of the WWS Immersive Technology Group – so you can be assured that Driveclub VR is in safe hands.

UPDATE: As far as I can see the physical disc is currently only for the United States. No European retailers are selling the disc, even though the EU PS Blog said it would be available. This might simply be that they haven’t put the listings up.

  1. Thanks for the info but I would of thought it would be cheaper or even free patch. Never mind I’ll get it anyway. I still take it €20 still work out to £20 in Sony’s terms.

    • That would’ve been nice, but adding VR support isn’t as easy as checking a few boxes. A lot of testing and effort went into this to ensure that it’s as nausea free as possible, make sure the interface is right, changing a hell of a lot of the game, so that it’s at 60fps for each eye, and not at the 1080p30 of the original, etc. etc. Oh, and they’ve added some new tracks and things as well.

So cheaper would have been nice but £16 (not £20, don’t worry) isn’t too bad, taking all of that into account.

      • £15.99 is not to bad I’ll have it on preorder now. I guess I was asking to much for it to be free.

  2. That’s nearly half price for Season pass owners which sounds pretty good to me. Looking forward to this more than any other VR game.

  3. Yeah I’m not fussed about the price, I know a shed load of work went into the VR experience.

On that note, who’s getting PSVR on day one?
Personally I’m waiting for reviews, I’ve seen the oculus and it’s impressive, but expensive. I just hope the PS4 can handle VR properly.

    • I’m getting PSVR day 1. I actually got it for £240. I got no discount vouchers or gift cards. I guess shopto put the price up wrong as I was day there refreshing the page to get in the preorder.

    • Four (I think) of the TSA Staff are, so you can expect some pretty in depth coverage of the system and the games.

Also at least one video of someone playing a horror game in VR and freaking out.

      • Well I know who gets to review Resi 7 already…

    • I have mine on pre-order from Gamestop here in Norway, they have run a campaign with 50% extra trade-in value from day one.
It’s now paid in full with trade-ins only :D (let me also mention that by normal currency conversion values, it costs around £500 over here).

I’m looking forward to this so much, even if VR support was to dwindle away over time (which I can’t picture happening considering how amazing both the tech and games look already), but the cinematic mode means you can get an up close and personal experience with any game or movie, even if it doesn’t have motion tracking. That’s a winning deal in my book.

  4. That sounds pretty, won’t be picking up PSVR day one but a friend will be so i’ll get a proper demo and then i might end up buying one sooner than planned.

  5. I had the opportunity to try driveclub at EGX & i can officially I will officially be buying driveclub at my main title. It was something else of an experience & the VR itself was so comfortable, you forget that it’s on your head

  6. Awesome sauce-um! This is some pretty special stuff, I’m looking forward to getting VR at some point and I’ll then I’ll definitely buy this. The statement about Evolution is confusing (not surprisingly), why are Sony reassuring us that what remains of Evolution are working on DriveClub VR and that we shouldn’t worry that means that they’re well aware of customer loyalty towards the studio, so why the hell is it still being closed?? Sort it out Sony.

  7. I’ve pre ordered the PSVR, but whether I’ll get it on day 1 or not is a different story.

I’ll try the demo but Im glad they’ve at least offered some discount for those of us who already bought the game especially after its bad launch…

  8. The EU PS BLOG it states: “The game will be available as both a physical Blu-Ray release and a digital download”.

It’s now available on the PS store to pre-order.

  9. I had it preordered but cancelled as I’m unsure how it will all pan out. Sony being Sony – if sales are lacklustre then support drops, but then I can contribute by buying one, but not at £340!
Fingers crossed it is a huge success, loads are bought and I’m left scrambling to get one. But if sh*t goes south I’ll be glad I didnt drop the price of a PS4 Pro on it.
