Game of Thrones and Elementary star Natalie Dormer has joined the cast of Mass Effect: Andromeda as the character of Dr Lexi T’Perro. She seems to be quite frisky and at one point in the video below jumps on top of the main character, so maybe you can get jiggy with her. That is the point of Mass Effect games, right?

She can Charge my Krogan any day and if she is romancable in…. ok, i was being silly but I just recalled Diana Allers in ME3. This really better not be a repeat of Jessica Chobot who was in the game at the expense of Emily Wong and was really meh. If this is the case, for pete’s sake, Bioware. Don’t start doing this, using big names for the sake of it. Bethesda did that and Oblivion ended up with a tiny budget for it’s voice actors. Skyrim got away with it to a degree but still.
I may have to er…. conduct an indepth investigation about her work in A Game of thrones. I need to locate the research gloves, the research ointment, the curtains of research.
What?
But pervy jokes aside, she is a decent actress and it will be interesting to see if she can join the likes of erm…..
er….
Ok, i can’t think of any film/tv actors that made it big with voice acting. Oh, Claudia Black but I think most people know her from Dragon Age and not Farscape.
Erm…..
Why do actors tend to make bad voice actors? I mean, Destiny had Peter Dinklage and they made him sound bored or he was bored or something. They had to use Nolan North as a result of it!
Oh, yeah, Seth Green also comes to mind but did he really have a massive career prior to voice acting?
I best stop or I will keep thinking of names.
JR.
Maybe Bungie asked Peter Dinklage to play the game whilst recording his dialogue. In which case, I totally understand how he could be bored.
Camilla Luddington gave an awful performance as Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider games IMO. I think they just recorded her making love in an industrial tumble dryer or something. Whether or not we can call that a performance is up for debate.

It always seems a waste of money to me when they hire big name actors for voice parts, when there are cheaper and just as good (and better) options from unknown actors. I can’t imagine anyone buys a game because a particular actor is voicing a character.
Ps, will a week go by where JR doesn’t remind us of his hatred for Rise of the Tomb Raider and Camilla Luddington? (who wasn’t a big name anyway, so isn’t even relevant to the point Steven was making!) Stay tuned to find out!

I can understand why as it does bring a lot of attention but most of the time, it is a bad idea. Kojima replacing David Hayter(which, i’ve heard he had been attempting since MGS3) with Keifer Sunderland is easily the biggest example of using a big name and it harming the product as a result. Nothing against Sunderland. He did do a decent job but it harmed the character of Big Boss by having him go from a fairly chatty character with traces of his younger self being present to a silent person that has less lines then the briefings in MGS3. Probably. I haven’t checked it but it does seem like he had less then 20 lines in total. :(
But anyway, big name actors are a bad idea as i’ve stated. If it’s because the actor is a fan and asked, then, fair enough, i suppose but even then, that can be a bit obvious. E.g. Felica Day was a fan of Dragon Age, got a character and she was made to stand out.
Ooo, gives me an idea for a guest article at some point if they are still open to submissions.
As for the new VA for tomb raider? Meh. It’s a reboot thus expected.
At least, Mass Effect has a bit of a history of having actors that turn out to be quite surprising good voice actors. I mean, look at Freddie Prince Jr. His acting career was well, a bit crap and by all rights, he should have sucked yet he turned out to be quite the voice actor. Hopefully, Natalie Dormer will turn out to be quite the voice actor.
If not, She left AGOT and cut off the potential for her character in Season 7 for erm……. whatever she originally left for!
I would love to see Steve Blum somehow make an appearance in the game again. I may be a bit of a fan of his and I may associate most Bioware games with the assumption that he is voicing a few characters.
He is a very underrated actor.

Had to watch the video to see who it was, have to say i can’t abide her acting (probably a lovely woman).Same thing with Chobot, just made sure i stayed out of her way when playing.

She was quite good as Anne Boleyn in the Tudors.
