It’s been quite a whirlwind couple of weeks for me, having moved house just before heading off to the Final Fantasy Fan Festival in Frankfurt last weekend. Right now the forthcoming release schedule isn’t looking like any less of a whirlwind, with March playing host to Horizon: Zero Dawn, Mass Effect Andromeda, Ghost Recon: Wildlands and Nier: Automata, and of course the upcoming release of a brand new Nintendo console and a brand new Legend of Zelda game.
Besides a good deal of Final Fantasy XIV, all in an effort to be able to become a samurai when Stormblood arrives in June, I’ve also been enjoying some of Halo War 2’s multiplayer while working on reviews for Mario Sports Superstars and the console release of Chime Sharp.
Miguel is having a “gaming cleanse” in an effort to clear the decks in time for Horizon and Nier: Automata, so that’s meant a scattershot of games across various screens including Berserk, Story of Seasons, Fire Emblem Heroes and Fate Grand/Order. Kris on the other hand played “making a game” which he reckons is hard, but there’s stuff coming out for it every week, so surely not…
Jim has played quite a lot of For Honor, while preparing for Breath of the Wild with a run through the Twilight Princess remaster. Other than that it’s been the Resident Evil 7 DLC and Warhammer 40,000: Deathwatch which is thus far not bad, if a little pricey.
Aran is working on our review of Torment: Tides of Numenera, which has unsurprisingly taken up a lot of his time. Besides that, it’s been a couple of games of For Honor, one of which he even managed to dominate. Nice!
Dave has been watching physical paint drying, to distract himself from the metaphorical paint-drying effect of theHunter: Call of the Wild. He’s also dipped into the super cute forma.8 and made his weekly trip into Hearthstone’s tavern brawl.
It looks as though Jake is on a bit of a platforming kick, with Banjo Kazooie, Rayman Origins and a couple of hours of Yooka Laylee under his belt. Yooka was “nostalgic and incredible”, which should help ease any nerves for all of you adoring Kickstarter fans, and we’ll have a slightly longer preview next week.
Finally, Tuffcub needs to tell you all about what he’s played, with one particular game standing out;
Titanfall 2 (obvs), lots of Skyrim, Ghostblade HD, and.. Adam’s Venture: Orgins. Now, we need to talk about that game, because it’s rubbish, in fact the first section of the game is terrible, you’re exploring your fathers mansion (a man who has managed to put a book high on a shelf in a locked library which no one has opened for years), and who is totally unaware of the huge catacombs underneath his house.
However, the main problem is the engine because if you spin the camera the screen almost shatters, the tearing is unbelievable. I’ve never seen anything like it and I’ve played Wander. Anyway, after finally getting the book the game tells you to use it, but your father shouts at you as soon as you pick it up and there is no clue what to do, and so, when I was given this to review, I threw in the towel because it was so bad it didn’t deserve the time.
Fast forward to this week when I began my quest to earn some more Platinum trophies and it turns out the game has an easy one, so I started again. It’s still terrible, and sometimes there is no logic to the puzzles but later parts of the game are quite pretty. In fact some are gorgeous, and the screen tearing seems to be only present in that first portion of the game, perhaps due to many reflective surfaces.
The game is like a budget Uncharted without the shooting, so its wander about it bit, do some puzzles, maybe some climbing then more puzzles. It takes about three hours to get the Platinum. As much as I hate to admit it, by the end it had flipped from being bad, to so bad it’s good. That is, apart from sexism, which I think is meant to be funny (as the game is set in the 1920s) but isn’t. Adam remarks to his female companion “The big crate is food? I thought it was your make up!” and “I’ll drive, this needs a man behind the wheel!”. It’s cringe inducing. But as I said, so rubbish it’s funny.
The market traders in Jerusalem all have cockney accents, you get some uniforms to get past some guards and the just vanish a scene later, and best of all, your female companion seems to change her hair colour and face half way through the game. If you have money to burn (the game launched at £45 and is now £20 I think – should be about £7), and want an easy platinum, its worth a giggle. But it is, truly, teeth grindingly, hilariously bad.
Oh, and Tef played Breath of the Wild, the lucky so and so.
But now, what have you played? Is it as good/bad as Adam Venture?!

I am now back Online. YAY! I will behave myself from now as I am loving For Honor and thanks to Tony for the live stream and answered all my questions that made me purchase the game yesterday. Did a bit of the Campaign but spent most of the time on Multiplayer.
Before that I completed Sniper Elite 4 Campaign 2nd time with all collectibles done. Tonight will be my 3rd playthrough co op with Youles on Authentic difficulty hopefully it doesn’t give us too much problems.

Last week I played Lego Batman 3 and to be homest, it sucked balls. Finished a playthrough, but have absolutely no desire to go back and get the collectables, etc..
Then this week I played Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens and in complete contrast, it’s been brilliant! I honestly can’t believe they were made by the same people, they’re barely comparable. Finished my initial playthrough and working my way back through in freeplay. Easily the best Lego game I’ve played, and I’ve played most of them.

Oh, and this weekend I’ll be trying out some MP games while it’s free.

Took advantage of the free PS+ weekend and bagged the few MP trophies in Watch Dogs 2 which meant I also got my 12th Platinum trophy!

Nowt for me this week as i’ve been away and busy but i should get some quality gaming time over the weekend.
TC, I wouldn’t be surprised if the market traders in Jersalem had cockney accents. A few years ago a friend went to Morocco and one of the traders asked him “You English?” , “No, Irish” replied my friend, to which the trader replied “How’s she cutting?” ! :)

I forget where I was with the Mrs now, some obscure middle eastern town many years ago, going through the local market. It wasn’t the kind of place filled with loads of Brit tourists, in fact we were almost the only ones. Anyhow, one of the market traders clearly saw us Brits coming a mile off and turned mad cockney, he must have visited a London market at some point in his life. It was a very surreal experience indeed!

Played loads of For Honour (not Honor). Really enjoyable but I feel it needs some new modes pretty badly. Had a really good session with Del last night, as he mentioned above. For a while we owned the battlefield, then things switched after a few games and we became the ones getting owned!
Other than that I’ve started to get into This War Of Mine: The Little Ones. It’s very good, it’s chilled and atmospheric, I like that you can lie back on the sofa and play without having to have instant reactions. I’m put off it though by the ridiculously tiny writing on the screen, I have to actually get up off the sofa and walk over to the telly to read some of it.
I also bought Dragon Age: Inquisition from the sale for £7. Only about 4 hours in so far and it’s all very unremarkable, solid enough to keep me going though.

I’ve not played that much this busy week, but started The Valley, which I got in a sale and which was praised highly on some other game site. It’s not bad but I didn’t find it overly remarkable either, not sure whether it deserves more of my precious time.
Then I played through Batman VR twice, which is one of the better PSVR experiences, found it quite good, liked the creepy story, and, of course, looking at the pointy ears in the mirror. Will do some more collecting stuff and trying to figure out if there’s any other possible endings. Sometimes I think it’s my playing style that everyone usually almost instantly dies.

Great week for gaming this week.
Gears of War Ultimate: Finished up a co-op playthrough on Insane. A really good remaster, in my opinion. Shame the online is a bit of a ghost town.
Resident Evil 7: Finished my first play through last night. The final hour or so seemed a bit flat in comparison to the rest of the game but, overall, a cracking game. Have already started another play through to mop up some achievements.
The Division: Approaching the end of this slog. I’ve been enjoying it, but there are so many side missions to do and collectibles to find. Still, I’m almost rank 30, I have 2 areas left to go and just a couple of missions. Then I can hop into the Dark Zone, which I’m looking forward to.

I played Skyrim this week in between studying for a business course I have to go Tampa for next week.
The game hasn’t aged at all but the bad part is that I feel the company has. Fallout 4 is a step behind Skyrim in my opinion, like they don’t know how to improve.
Teeny tiny bit of The Witcher 3 too starting my play through on the hardest difficulty. For someone that’s been playing games almost 30 years it’s in my top 5 ever. In my heartfelt opinion.
