Marvel Heroes Omega Makes Its Way To PS4 And Xbox One Soon

Marvel has announced that it is releasing its free to play title Marvel Heroes Omega on PS4 and Xbox One this Spring, with a closed beta taking place on both consoles in the near future. Players will be able to choose from a choice of  39 Marvel characters to use in the game, and go through a nine chapter story campaign. Outside of the campaign will be different missions and activities to tackle with others.

All playable characters can be used without cost up to level 10, but after that point you’ll have to pick one you’ll stick with until you have the necessary resources to use another. To gain access to the closed beta those who are really interested have the option of buying a Founder’s Pack which will guarantee entry. Details on getting in without paying have yet to be confirmed, but all participants will get Daredevil in the full release. Beta progess will be wiped before full launch too. If you’ve been playing the game on PC you will not be able to transfer your character to the console versions of the game, which will also have less content that the PC version has at launch. There also be no cross platform play.

  1. Wow, those are some ROPEY looking character models!

  2. Just make a new Marvel Ultimate Alliance instead of this free to play guff.

  3. For a 4 year old game that isn’t going to win any awards for “graphics that are better than ‘acceptable'”, it needs an inexplicably beefy PC.

But it’s reasonably entertaining, seems more “pay to wear fancy hats” instead of “pay to win”, and the PC version seems generally well regarded. Until they did an update leading to negative Steam reviews along the lines of “it’s changed! Change is bad!” along with “why are they doing a PS4 version? Consoles are bad!”.

Certainly worth a look when it launches.
