Eurogamer are reporting that “sources close” to Nintendo have confirmed that a follow up to the recently discontinued Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System, NES Mini as everyone called it. The new console will, unsurprisingly, be the SNES Mini.
Development is said to be well under way with Nintendo eyeing a launch this Christmas. It is said it will be plug and play and will come pre-installed with classic games.
The SNES Mini is said to be one of the reasons for the discontinuation of the NES Mini, with Nintendo saying the consoles are novelty items and they are not intended to be part of their permanent line up. With that in mind you can expect the demand for the SNES Mini to be off the scale.
Nintendo are refusing to comment on the rumours.
