Tekken 7 is a fantastic fighting game, but as we wrote in our review, its launch last week saw it fall into the oh-so-familiar trap of having often dodgy online multiplayer on PlayStation 4 in particular. Bandai Namco have hurried to address these issues, with today’s 1.02 patch for PS4 aiming to improve multiplayer on a number of levels.
The patch notes, which we’ve rewritten for legibility, are as follows:
- The following player information will no longer be displayed before a match:
– Character selected
– Wins
– Rank
– Title - Connection with other players can be established more frequently
- Improved Stability – Matchlist is tentatively removed to improve online matching functionality
- Addition of ON/OfF feature for voice chat Option menu – Set to off as default setting
- Some characters’ move properties were corrected – Nina’s Ivory Cutter attack properties were corrected.
Are you playing Tekken 7 online? Let us know how the game’s online is holding up after this patch.

I’ll certainly try it after tea as online particularly Ranked has been utter shite, took me ages to get the Plat due to trying to get in a ranked match.

I actually thought it was totally fixed at first as the first 4 fights connected straight away, then they usual lost connection to fighter and could not send request crept in for 3 or 4 fights, then managed to get a few more fights in it’s certainly better than it was though,I don’t think before patch it was a case of people seeing your rank and declining as Namco said,I had loads of people come up with me on 0 wins and them also 0 and others with several wins while I was 0,anyway it’s not perfect but it’s a hell of a lot better.

About time. The connection issues that still exist could be server overload due to people updating/ playing the newly updated game. This is how it should have been a week ago.

Yeah possibly and would have been nice.
