No, they’re not as iconic as the fancy birds of the first generation games, but with the Johto region having been added to Pokémon Go earlier this year and the recent addition of legendary Pokémon as Raid Battle bosses, it was a matter of time before the trio of legendaries from Pokémon Gold & Silver – Raikou, Entei, and Suicune – were added to the ludicrously successful mobile game.
Just as with the original legendaries, you’ll only have a limited opportunity to catch these Pokémon, so you’ll have to act fast to battle and catch them. The difference this time around is that each will be spending a month in a particular region before then moving on around the world. Between now and 30th September, that will see the Pokémon in the following locations:
- Raikou, an Electric-type Legendary Pokémon, can be battled throughout the Americas.
- Entei, a Fire-type Legendary Pokémon, can be battled throughout Europe and Africa.
- Suicune, a Water-type Legendary Pokémon, can be battled throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
On 30th September, they’ll all move to a different location, with the final stop on their worldwide tour starting on 31st october.

Beyond that, Niantic are trialling a new form of Raid Battle called EX Raid Battle. Similar to the current system, these will take over Gyms around the world, but you’ll be actively invited to take part if you’ve completed a Raid Battle at that Gym.
