Disney Ends Relationship With Gazillion Entertainment Leading To Shut Down Of Marvel Heroes

Disney has confirmed that its partnership with Gazillion Entertainment has come to an end, which means that the free to play MMO Marvel Heroes will be shut down across all platforms. The game was only recently released on PS4 and Xbox One. In an email to Kotaku a Marvel representative released the following statement.

“We regret to inform our Marvel Heroes fans that we have ended our relationship with Gazillion Entertainment, and that the Marvel Heroes games will be shut down. We would like to sincerely thank the players who joined the Marvel Heroes community, and will provide any further updates as they become available.”

According to Kotaku the community was fearing this turn of events after the game’s community team went silent, whereas before there was regular discourse regarding the state of Marvel Heroes and upcoming updates. It also appears there have been some layoffs at Gazillion as a result of this shut down.

From the heady days of the Mega Drive up until the modern day gaming has been my main hobby. I'll give almost any game a go.

  1. Shame, because the game is a lot of fun.

It looks like their license to develop Marvel games was for 10 years and isn’t being renewed after it runs out sometime soon.

On the plus side, everything in game is now on sale. Heroes cost just 1 Eternity Splinter now, as do loot boxes and the various buffs. Should be able to get through the last half a dozen trophies quite quickly like that.
