You know, I’d almost forgotten that Total War: Arena was still a project in development at Creative Assembly. Announced back in March 2013, it hit closed alpha at the end of 2014 (when I first played it), then closed beta, before disappearing off the map after a new partnership was struck with Wargaming to publish it online.
That saw CA have to go back and rework and awful lot of the game’s backend, but now, having been through closed beta testing once more, they’re finally able to open the flood gates and let all and sundry join in. The open beta for Total War: Arena kicks off on 22nd February.
It’s a 10v10 team-based real time tactical game, in which you control just three units and have to try to co-ordinate your efforts with your team mates. We’ve been playing the open beta version of the game, which also introduced Carthage and Hannibal as a fourth faction, and will have impressions going live this morning.
