GRIP Is Coming To PS4, Xbox One, PC, And Switch This Year

Three years ago I got very excited as a Kickstarter for GRIP, a ‘spiritual successor’ to PS1 classic Rollcage was announced. It went a bit wonky and the Kickstarter was cancelled, but the game re-emerged on Steam Early Access and has been pootling about on that for a few years with news of the consoles versions put on hold.

Good news everyone! The consoles versions are back, and that includes a version for Nintendo Switch, and they’re arriving this year! Huzzah! It’s coming with on and offline gameplay, split screen, and will be enhanced on PS4 Pro and Xbox One. There will also be an official launch of the PC version on Steam.

Deveopers Caged Element have teamed up with Wired Productions for the release.

“We’re very excited to finally announce our partnership with Wired Productions today,” said Chris Mallinson, Game Director at Caged Element. “GRIP began as a passion project paying tribute to the great Rollcage games and racers of a past era, but it’s now truly transformed into a fully-fledged, futuristic combat racer fit for this generation. We’re extremely proud of the game and can’t wait to unleash it later this year on all platforms. Combat racing is back, baby.”

  1. Was an original backer of this so I’m glad it has finally reached the approach of release.

    • Same here, really looking forward to playing it.

  2. Great news, hooray for games based on toys from the nineties!! The game’s looking great, and that logo is very, very clever, let’s hope they didn’t spend all the budget on it.
