Sonic Mania Plus Is Coming Out On 17th July

Easily the best Sonic game to be released since Sonic Adventure 2 on Dreamcast – don’t @ me – Sonic Mania is set to get just that little bit better this summer with the release of Sonic Mania Plus. Whether you want to get it through the new retail and digital release or upgrade a copy you bought last year, Plus is coming out on 17th July.

The main new additions in Plus are two new characters drawn from Sonic’s past, Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel. There will also be a new Encore mode that takes the zones you know from the main game and adds new challenges and layouts to master. Competition and Time Attack also get upgraded with four player competitions and ghost challenges.

If you buy the game at retail, you also get a nice looking 32-page art book from the game’s development, holographic packaging and a nifty Mega Drive themed reversible cover.

Thankfully, Sega are keeping things nice and reasonable if you have already bought the game. The Encore DLC will include the extras for £3.99 and effectively upgrade you to Plus.
