VR Support For No Man's Sky Listed In Official Survey

Hello Games have been asking the players of No Man Sky what they would like to see in the future and alongside larger multiplayer lobbies and better underwater exploration is the intriguing prospect of VR support.

Many players have been asking for VR since the game was announced and it did seem like the perfect fit for PlayStation VR, Sean Murray said as much three years ago.

“I think it’s perfect fit for virtual reality. I think that No Man’s Sky, which is this infinite computer generated universe, and PlayStation VR, which is a headset that you put on and enter a VR space is like, it’s like you’ve asked me when I was five what the future would look like,” he said in March 2016, adding “But that’s as far as I can comment.”

The game has been had numerous improvements since then so it might not be possible to get the frame rate up higher enough to run it on PSVR, but as the game is also on PC then perhaps this survey is only referring to Oculus, Rift and other PC based headsets.

Yeah, getting it to run on PSVR would be a tall order – but it would be a dream come true if possible. PS5 would probably make the difference but that still seems a while away yet too. The fact that they’ve included it as an option in the survey is encouraging though!

I’ve got a feeling it’s something Sean and his crew have been working on already. And bearing in mind the incredible graphics improvements since launch I’ve no doubt they can squeeze the whole universe into the expensive hat.

They did dabble with the notion early on but i got the impression it had been sidelined due to (a) getting the existing game to where many had expected it to be at launch and (b) the framerate equation . It is a 30fps game after all and VR requires 60fps. But yeah changes in the rendering could make it more of a possibility, here’s hoping!

I did the survey over the weekend that was the option I ticked. I really would love to see this come to PSVR.

MMS and PSVR would be the perfect marriage. Fingers crossed.
