Free DLC for Days Gone starts in June

The hype train for Days Gone is at full steam with trailers and announcements pouring out of Sony Bend ahead of the launch on April 26th. The latest reveal is the game is getting free post launch content and it will begin to drop in June.

The game will launch with three difficulty modes, Easy, Normal, and… and this will surprise you… Hard, but come June you will also get getting a Survival mode.

“‘Survival’ difficulty mode tests players by daring them to beat the story with increased difficulty settings, no fast travel or Survival Vision, and an immersive HUD that removes maps and indicators from the gameplay screen,” explained Jeff Ross, Game Director at Bend Studio. “Every tweak and change made is designed to further immerse players and ratchet up the tension to make this the definitive survival experience.”

There will also be new challenges which can earn you new livery for your bike and it appears some trophies will also be earned by completing these feats.

“Each week beginning in June, a new Bike, Horde, or Combat challenge will be deployed to test players even further,” said Jeff. “These challenges take key gameplay features of Days Gone, and twists them in unique ways to earn additional items and rewards. We’ll give you more information on the specific challenges down the road.”

Sony have supported many of the their single player games in a similar fashion, both God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn had New Game+ and other cosmetic trinkets added post launch.

The full soundtrack to the game is already available on all major streaming platforms and includes, quite bizarelly, a track from Lewis Capaldi. You can also learn more about Deacon’s favourite mode of transport here.

  1. The challenges sound good but I think I’ll be keeping away from the survival mode as I’m not the best at this kind of game.
I hope the challenges aren’t too time consuming, I haven’t played any of the career modes in Dirt Rally 2 for well over a month now, even though I’ve been playing it nearly every day since launch, as I’ve been doing the daily/weekly/monthly challenges. They are a great way of earning credits so you can buy the more expensive cars.
