Recently, CD Projekt RED revealed that Gwent: The Witcher Card Game would be releasing on Android devices, with a released date set for March 24th. However, there is now a chance to get some hands on time with the game on Android two weeks ahead of the official release. A closed beta will be starting on March 10th for anyone with a gog.com and Google Play account. However, this beta will work on a first come first served basis so once the spaces are gone they are gone. To sign up for the beta head here.
In terms of what will be available in this closed beta CD Projekt RED has confirmed this build will be feature complete but may contain some bugs. That means all game modes will be accessible from the get go including seasonal, classic, training, arena, and friendly matches. All progress made in the beta will carry over to the full release and any purchases made will be linked to your gog account so the items can be accessed on the PC and iOS versions of the game. In terms of hardware this is what the developer has stated on the FAQ:
Currently almost all Android devices using Android 7.0 (Nougat) or newer, with 2 GB RAM or more and using OpenGL ES 3.2 or higher should run GWENT without any issues. Our team is hard at work to optimize the game for more Android devices.
Back in December, CD Projekt RED announced it was discontinuing support for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Gwent due to adding the iOS and Android platforms. The data showed that the console versions were the least played and due to limited resources for the team the decision was made to focus on the PC and mobile versions of Gwent instead. The console version remains operational until June but players are advised to transfer their data a new or existing gog account.
