Fall Guys Season 4 is going to the retro neon future of 4041.

Fall Guys Season 4 is almost upon us, and Mediatonic have revealed the new theme that will define the next season of content. Welcome to the retro neon future of Fall Guys 4041.

After the vanilla first season in the game, Season 2 added a medieval fantasy twist to proceedings, with wizards, witches, knights, and new stages themed around castles. Season 3 saw the cuddly contestants entering a winter wonderland, dressing up as penguins, snowmen and more. Season 4 will now take players to a neon infused, 80s retro vision of the year 4041. I’m sure we can expect robots, synth-based remixes of music, and more than a few references to classic video games. Perfect time for a Pac-Man tie in, wouldn’t you say?

While we don’t have a firm release date for Fall Guys Season 4, each season in Fall Guys lasts around two months. Season 1 ran from 8th August to 7th October, Season 2 from 8th October to 14th December, and Season 3 from 15th December through to the present day, making it ever-so-slightly longer than Season 2. Seasons typically have a mid-season update as well, and this was true of Fall Guys mid-season 3.5 update that sought to keep things fresh for players.

New seasonal content isn’t the only thing that Mediatonic has been working on. They’ve also just been doing random concept art for Daft Punk cosmetics (inspired by their retirement yesterday), and porting the game to new platforms.  At last week’s Nintendo Direct, they confirmed that Fall Guys is coming to Nintendo Switch in summer 2021, and having previously rebuffed specific rumours, also confirmed that and Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One version will arrive at the same time.

That’s still some way away, and we can expect to see a few more seasons of content between now and then. It also seems to suggest that Mediatonic and publisher Devolver Digital signed a one year exclusivity deal with PlayStation. The game launched in August 2020, heading straight into the free games collection on PlayStation Plus, and promptly struggling to match demand with its servers. Could we see them pull a similar trick with the game jumping straight into Xbox Game Pass in August 2021? It seems quite likely.

We posted our Fall Guys review back in August last year, saying:

Full of cute and cuddly jelly beans bumbling into each other in a race for the crown, Fall Guys is just about the most wholesome battle royale imaginable, and a whole lot of fun.
