Crusader Kings 3: Northern Lords adds a little flavour next week

The first ‘flavor pack’ for Crusader Kings 3 has been revealed as the Northern Lords. Coming out next week on Tuesday 16th March, the Northern Lords DLC will add a little more, well…. flavour and depth to the rulers of the northern reaches of the world map.

The Northern Lords Flavor Pack will feature new character art, new music, new 3D models, events, decisions and more when it launches, but also brings with it some new gameplay elements.

Norse characters may abandon their homes and lead their host to foreign lands to try and establish new kingdoms, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla-stylee. You’ll be backed by Jomsvikings and Shieldmaidens as you go, while poets will compose songs to tell of your successes (and failures).

The DLC will also add new Norse dynastic legacies, Norse blot sacrifices, trials by combat, and plenty of thematic events to add extra colour.

Northern Lords is the first DLC and the first Flavor Pack for the game. It will be available standalone for £5.19 on Tuesday, but also comes as part of the Crusader Kings III: Expansion Pass, which will see a further Flavor Pack and a fuller ‘Expansion 1’ released for the game.

Crusader Kings 3 was one of the critically acclaimed released of 2020, garnering plenty of praise upon its release last September. We wrote in our Crusader Kings 3 review:

The best way to think of Crusader Kings 3 as a sequel is in terms of its own dynastic gameplay. Sure, Paradox have started from scratch with a new game, but it’s still full of scheming, warring amidst an impressive breadth of cultures and religions. Crusader Kings 3 is an heir that has been born from Crusader Kings 2 and its many expansions, including and improving on so much of what made that game great, but it can still grow and improve in its own right.
