Square Enix has revealed more of the War for Wakanda story expansion, coming to Marvel’s Avengers later in August 2021. As with other content for Marvel’s Avengers, the expansion will be a free new story arc for the game, introducing the iconic Black Panther character along the way.
First teased earlier this year, the War for Wakanda expansion centres around the Black Panther’s arch-nemesis, Klaw, who seeks to steal Vibranium from Wakanda for his own purposes. There’s also a massive enemy that appear at the end of the trailer.
This comes after two more chapters in the current story arcs, with Project Omega pitting you against AIM’s Dr. Monica Rappaccini once more, including a fight with a big cube… You will also have the Wasteland Patrols.
After a rocky start, it looks like Square Enix are committed to the future of Marvel’s Avengers, for the time being at least. We scored Marvel’s Avengers 7/10 in our Day One review, Jim had this to say:
Marvel’s Avengers offers a new approach for a superhero video game, yet one that still feels all too familiar for anyone who’s played Destiny, The Division, or Anthem. It’s eye-popping in its technical prowess as well as how much it leans on live service hooks, anticipating players will come back day after day. And a lot of players definitely will, especially if they can squad up with friends. Past its flaws and behind the grind, Marvel’s Avengers is still a fun superhero brawler that has plenty of room to grow in the coming months.
We look forward to continuing to explore Marvel’s Avengers as Crystal Dynamics lead the game’s continued development. Can they turn it around from its less than amazing launch?
