eFootball 2022, formely known as the PES franchise, will be released on September 30th, Konami has confirmed. Konami has ditched a full priced released and has switched the series model to a free to play one, meaning anyone can download eFootball 2022 for now charge. However, there will be transactions in the game. Along with the release date, Konami has announced what features the game will be releasing with on September 30th.
The launch features for eFootball 2022 will include:
- Play against the AI or a friend offline with nine fully authentic clubs to choose from: FC Barcelona, FC Bayern München, Juventus, Manchester United, Arsenal FC, SC Corinthians Paulista, CR Flamengo, CA River Plate, São Paulo FC
- Choose from six stadiums: Camp Nou, Old Trafford, Allianz Stadium, Emirates Stadium, Allianz Arena, eFootball Stadium
- Experience cross-generation matchmaking (PlayStation®5 vs. PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S vs. Xbox One) with weekly online events using pre-set teams, providing rewards such as GP
Following the launch of eFootball 2022, there will be an Autumn update. This update will add Creative Teams, 600 more base teams, an online Creative League, a Tour Event to play against AI, Challenge events, online quick match, and online lobby. Creative Teams are essentially a form of FIFA’s Ultimate Team where players will be able to create their own teams using the players found in the game. The game will feature three in game currencies with these being eFootball Coins (premium currency), GP (earned through gameplay) and eFootball Points (earned through gameplay). These can be used to spend on players who will also be split into different categories such as those depending on performance and legend status.
One of the things players will be able to purchase is an Advanced Match Pass, which seems like a Battle Pass, in that it will give access to more rewards compared to those who do not choose to pay for anything in eFootball 2022. Those who currently play eFootball PES 2021 on mobile will be upgraded automatically to eFootball 2022, with most of the progress made being carried over. In other future updates, Konami is planning to release an edit mode so players can edit how their club looks, haptic feedback on PS5, advanced ball trapping, full cross platform play, power pass, power shot, and other kicks.
eFootball 2022 will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
