Lollipop Chainsaw has players take on the role of cheerleader Juliet Starling, who finds herself in a zombie apocalypse on her 18th birthday. Along for the ride is her boyfriend Nick. Well, his still living decapitated head that Juliet lopped off after he was bitten by a zombie. Luckily for him, Juliet comes from a family of zombie hunters. In the game, Juliet uses a chainsaw to kill zombies which disappear in sparkles. This feature would later influence James Gunn’s stylistic choice for 2021’s Suicide Squad when Harley Quinn goes on a rampage.
In our review, Tuffcub did not come away too impressed by the game, writing, “Lollipop Chainsaw features some of the crudest language ever heard on a video game, barely a moment goes buy without an insult being flung and this is perfectly demonstrated by the first boss battle. Zed, a punk rocker who attacks by uttering curse words which then appear on screen in huge letters and rush towards Juliette. You can literally be killed by the word ‘Cocksucker’.
