Jackbox Games has announced that The Jackbox Party Pack 9 will be out on 20th October, giving players another batch of five daft party games to dive into with up to 10 friends. The game will be coming to – deep breath – PC & Mac via Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and 5, Apple TV and iPad, the Mac App Store, Epic Games Store, Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Luna and Google Stadia!

In the mix of five games, only one is a sequel, with the trivia bluffing game Fibbage 4. Alongside that there’s four new games with the sorting team game Quixort, the magical joke auction Junktopia, the guessing game Nonsensory and a reality TV game Roomerang.

You can check out the new version of Fibbage in a preview video shared by the team:

See some other gameplay examples on the Jackbox YouTube channel.

As always, the game plays out on a shared screen and each player logging into a web app on their own smartphone device. Now players can connect by scanning a QR code from the screen, instead of having a letter code, and the host has the ability to kick players from the game, in addition to all of the returning tweaks that have adapted the game for online streaming with a group of friends and through Twitch to larger audiences.

Looking back on the last game, it always seems like there’s at least one game that strikes a duff note, but Jason had plenty of good to say in our Jackbox Party Pack 8 review:

“Overall I really like The Jackbox Party Pack 8. I’ve been enjoying messing around with it with my friends and will definitely keep delving into Job Job, Drawful Animate, and Weapons Drawn. On the other hand, I find the trivia games to be a bit dull, and I think The Poll Mine has a short shelf life, at least when it comes down to how I like to play games.”
