What We Played #606 – Diablo IV, Street Fighter 6 & Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

We’re in the eye of the Faux-E3 storm today, with Summer Game Fest having kicked things off last night alongside Day of the Devs and Devolver’s usual shenanigans, and with Xbox, Ubisoft and plenty more to come over the weekend. Today though? Well, there’s not much happening today.

My meaningful gaming time has been a little bit limited this past week, though I shared my thoughts on RoboCop: Rogue City and Gangs of Sherwood, which I got to see and play a fortnight ago. They’re both games that could be a pleasant surprise by the time they release later this year.

RoboCop Rogue City shooter

Aran gets things started this week having finished off his run through the Gears 5 Hivebusters DLC. It was “a fun departure from the main story, and I hope to see more of Scorpio Squad in the future.” Alongside that it was the arcade shooter Curved Space and some Fall of Porcupine for a review coming next week.

Nic B is up to his usual schtick with Pokémon Go, now that he’s finished The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. He also wiped Marvel Snap from his phone after feeling it was becoming “more of a habit than fun.”

“It’s that time of decade”, so Gamoc has been playing Diablo IV for our review, and it’s been about as good as he could possibly have hoped for. He’s also continued on with a smidgeon of Dead Island 2, and found it to be far, far better than he thought it would be.

Diablo 4 Dungeon

Reuben has been playing FUGA: Melody of Steel 2 to wrap up our review of the animal-filled warring RPG. He’s really enjoying it, at least. He’s also continued on with his quest to hit Master Rank in Pokémon Unite, and smashing through the latest Raid content in Final Fantasy XIV.

Mr. Nick P has, quite naturally, been playing Street Fighter 6, which is dominating his gaming time as he hunts for new tricks to get the upper hand in battle. He also made a start on Diablo IV, which is a game he’s been really looking forward to.

Street Fighter 6 Extreme Battle

The only thing Dom can tell us about from this past week is that he got to go hands on with Madden 24, and was impressed by the new skeletal animation system, Sapien. Thankfully it was not spooky or scary.

And rounding things out this week is Steve, who’s made some decent progress in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and completed the third temple and around 35 shrines. He’s also been playing Amnesia: The Bunker for review and got suitably scared, and dipped into The Last Case of Benedict Fox.

As for what people liked the look of during Summer Game Fest? Well, Tuffcub had a little chuckle during the Twisted Metal TV show, and has called dibs on reviewing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth next year. FF7 Rebirth is also high on Nic B’s wishlist, while Steve is peachy keen on the Shadows of the Damned remaster.

Now then, what have you played? And did any games catch your eye from Summer Game Fest?

  1. Still ‘working’ my way through brilliant Eden, sometimes until late at night. I got 3 of the 5 gardens of the DLC, always missing some seeds. Simply addictive.

    • Oh, and the Summer Game Fest I found generally underwhelming, I can hardly remember a single game I was excited about.
