2024’s first batch of games coming to Sony’s premium subscription services, PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium, have been revealed.

Arriving on 16th January next week, Sony’s got a great batch of games for PS Plus subscribers. There’s the exceptional survival horror of the Resident Evil 2 remake, there’s the co-op faux D&D shooting of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, the spaceship salvage operations of Hardspace: Shipbreaker, and more.

If you’ve got PS Plus Premium and the Classics game library, then there’s the two Mana series remakes, Street Fighter collection, The Phantom Menace and Rally Cross to sink your teeth into.

  • Rally Cross | PS4, PS5
  • Star Wars: Episode 1 The Phantom Menace | PS4, PS5
  • Street Fighter: 30th Anniversary Collection | PS4
  • Legend of Mana | PS4
  • Secret of Mana | PS4

What are the other PS Plus Free Monthly Games in January?

Alongside the game library updates are the usual free games for PS Plus Essential subscribers and up. Kicking off the year, Sony has bundled up the sublime action adventure sequel A Plague Tale: Requiem, throwback monster battling Evil West and and quirky adventure Nobody Saves the World. Here’s the full PS Plus Essential line up.

What actually is PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium?

The PlayStation Plus relaunch rolled out around the world in June 2022, transforming the PS Plus we once knew into a three tiered subscription service that bundles in and expands what was once PlayStation Now. The classic PS Plus is now called PS Plus Essential, giving access to online multiplayer gaming, cloud save backups, exclusive offers and at least 2 free monthly games. PS Plus Extra then adds a catalogue of PS4 and PS5 games into the mix, while PS Plus Deluxe and Premium (depending on your region) adds older PS2, PS1 and PSP game emulation, and game streaming for PS3 and other titles.

  1. A) I don’t have Premium and B) it really was quite terrible, but I played a lot of the Star Wars: TPM game when I was a kid, so I might pick it up for the nostalgia factor. Me and my brother have been enjoying Star Wars Demolition on occasion since it was re-released as well, which we also played a lot back in the day. I’m just hoping they release the Star Wars: The Clone Wars game, but it seems they’re only re-doing PS1 games these days – SW: Jedi Starfighter and SW: Bounty Hunter looks to be it for PS2 re-releases, which is a real shame :(
