The project lead on DayZ, Dean Hall, is rather keen to see the game on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
However a console version will only be green lit if the PC version is successful.
“You’re not going to put it on the consoles if you’re only going to sell 100,000 units or something like that,” he told Joystiq. “DayZ will be driven by its PC development and it will innovative on that. And, once we’re at a point, we’ll take it and do a Mac version, 360 and PS3.”
Dean added that he is meeting console developers at Gamescom to discuss the project.
DayZ was recently confirmed to be being remade as a standalone game.

I’d play it! I really enjoyed Operation Flashpoint: DR on PS3, and RR less so only due to technical issues like frame-rate. If it sells maybe they’ll even be inclined to port Arma 3? One can hope, now that Codemasters are out of the action genre…

Don’t think Bohemia (They’re the ones that made Arma right?) worked on the last operation Flashpoints, it was a different developer and Arma… 3 is probably a PS4, Xbox 3 game lol if it went to consoles.

Yes please! I know a lot of people that would love to play Day Z but they’re computers can’t quite handle it. A console version would be awesome. But how many people are there on a map at one time? will a console be able to handle it? the numbers might get reduced to something just shit.

For me being a PC only gamer now this is terrible news only because i have witnessed like many others some great PC only games become dumbed down and butchered due to it going to consoles.
If any of you guys have actually played DayZ/ARMA you will know that this would be indeed impossible to do on the current gen console because of the size of the playing area.
Like i mentioned on the DayZ forum people have sat up and taken note on how great this game has been for PC’s, people have remembered how great PC gaming really is and how modding is still an essential tool to prolong life in an old game! But now with Rocket saying he wants to bring this to consoles the emphasis will as usual shift over to XBOX and PS3.
p.s. Anyone want to bet MS will be first in the queue to secure timed DLC lol!
