Everyone is looking forward to the day when a supposed AAA game works straight out of the box, without a patch or glitch, but until then launch day (or indeed launch week, or if you are Driveclub, launch year) problems will arise.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has had server woes since day one. Just this afternoon I spotted our much missed Editor in Chief, Peter, complaining he couldn’t log on. Good news Peter! Konami have updated their service page and all the servers are now working.

Well, almost all of them, PlayStation 4 gamers are still screwed. But yay if you are playing the game on Xbox, PS3 or Steam.

Good news! I keep getting logged out and only some of the time log in on starting the game. In case it helps anyone trying over and over to log in sometimes lets you log in.

What’s the need to log in? Am I missing something, there’s no mgo yet so I’m at a loss as to what the online server is needed for?

There are some freebie game resources, different for each day, for so many days. You have to log in each day. They show up in rewards on on the iDroid.

Oh right, I remember reading all the info at the start of the game and thinking “what is all this talking about?!”
Just read up a bit more on it and it says the cassette tapes can be listened through the phone app, but you have to log in.
Listening to the back story you’ve just unlocked on the way to work? Yes please.
