Titanfall 2 Has A Single Player Campaign

Titanfall 2 lead writer Jesse Stern has revealed that the game will include a single player campaign when it launches.

“The multi-player game will be even better than it was the first time around,” says Jesse, “The first game was an Xbox exclusive (initially). This one is going to be widely available, I believe on all platforms. One of the shortcomings of the first game was we just did not have the mechanism to tell everyone ‘here’s who you are, here’s where you are and who’s around you.’ We knew all the answers, we just could not deliver it.”

“We are doing our best to deliver a vision of grand global colonial warfare retelling the story of the American Revolution and the American Civil War in space,” he adds.

It was also revealed that Respawn have plans for both a live action and animated series based on the I.P. Titanfall 2 is scheduled to launch on Xbox One, PS4, and PC sometime before the end of March 2017.

  1. “…retelling the story of the American Revolution and the American Civil War in space…” bless. A little “U! S! A!” focussed there. Next time you interview this chap please ask him to mark Spain and Australia on a world map.

  2. well, a campaign mode would certainly mean i’d be more interested in the game.
    that and a PS4 version. ^_^

  3. Just started the first and I can’t say I’m miffed by the lack of single player.

Good opening though. It’ll be interesting to see the ideas put into action in the sequel.

  4. Still one of my favourites of this generation. Not really bothered about campaign though. Tacked on single player?

    • Hopefully it won’t be tacked on, but to be honest it’s going to have to be bloody good for it to catch my attention.

One thing I’ve realised playing the original is I don’t give a shit for the single player mode in some games anymore. I don’t know how many games I’ve played where I’ve played the first mission to get acquainted with the controls and then just moved onto the MP non-stop.

I get that some people are just in for the SP, but I’m starting to think multiplayer-only games aren’t necessarily a bad thing in some cases.

      • … Apart from when the network is down of course. ;)

      • … if you’re on PlayStation :P

      • Of course! That goes without saying these days doesn’t it? ;)

      • Same here, some games the campaign feels like a chore. They’re so set-piece based now and I just want to blast through really.

  5. A decent sp campaign might grab my interest and with another year to go yet they surely have time to deliver something substantial.

  6. I think it might sell more now that it has a single player campaign, people are getting a bit miffed at multilayer only games.Do we know how many it sold when it first came out?

  7. Bizarrely, even the original article itself seems to give no reference to a single player campaign (other than a speculative mention), just that they want to provide more story to the player – They could do this in the multiplayer side of things just as easily.

They could also be referencing the series as a way to build backstory.

Not saying any of this is right or wrong of course, but at no point in the quotes was ‘singleplayer’ actually mentioned, so I don’t know if it was & wasn’t quoted, or if the story has been slightly misinterpreted by the writer for Forbes.

  8. They already have a strong mp grounding, so a decent SP campaign of 6-10 hours will just add to the package, could bring in new people who might have been put off by the online-only aspect.

I found the story interesting but with the way thw ‘multiplayer campaign’ was set up (just a mission playlist that you couldn’t guarantee would be in order), I didn’t complete it (despite doing the last mission…).
