Although we know that Super Smash Brothers is coming to the 3DS and Wii U at some point, it doesn’t look like it will be here in the near future.
Masahiro Sakurai posted a series of tweets stating that development won’t start until the end of this year – after Kid Icarus Uprising is finished. He states that it has been let out to the general public far too soon.
So, that’s a shame; it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting Smash Bros. 3DS and Wii U for at least two years, given development times. It was definitely announced too early; we didn’t even get to see any footage of the game… just a mention that it would be coming.
It got the crowd going, though – that’s good.

He doesn’t sound too happy, if he’s stating that it was let out too soon, does he?
Still, that’s the point of E3, to excite gamers.

It is disappointing, but I think the 3DS needed that boost going up against the Vita. The new line-up is such that a lot of people will be wanting both now.

I’m not sure how this came out, was it Nintendo that mentioned it? If so, I can’t help thinking that Sony or MS would be slated for “revealing” games during E3 to “get the crowd going”, then stating afterwards that it wouldn’t be entering development for at least 6 months.

Yeah, but Nintendo have always been able to get away with stuff like that.
And I’m content to let them- on some sites, you can barely make a comment about a PS3 or 360 game without igniting a flame war. (Not here :) ) I would very much like to avoid a three-way fight- a two-way battle is already too much.

Where’s Final Fantasy Versus XIII?

I dont get Nintendo releases systems with no games or AAA games. At least with the PSV there will be quite a few to choose from.

To be fair, the original DS followed pretty much the same logic and look how that turned out :) I suppose they look at it that their consoles/handhelds don’t have to be amazing straight away to be an overall success. That said, I am desperately counting down the days to the 17th June when Zelda comes out and I actually have something to play on mine lol!

this & using 360/PS3 gameplay videos not a good start & there stock has gone down some investors are not so keen on Wiiu.

Why do they take forever when it comes to Smash Bros?

They like to torture us fans with anticipation?

Surprising….

What a ridiculous console announcement really, mentioning games they haven’t even begun developing and using footage from PS3/XBOX 360.
