PS3 Early Adopters Cheated?

Ray Maguire has given an interesting interview to GameIndsutry.Biz, where he states that it is natural for some PS3 early adopters to feel cheated by the introduction of the new price-point and 40GB model.

However, as an early adopter we’re not so sure that anyone should feel cheated. The new 40GB model is less well equipped than the original 60GB PS3, so that’s pretty much a moot point. The new price point for the 60GB model is perhaps more contentious, but again – and despite Maguire’s assertion that the internet doesn’t always hold much truth! – it’s been known by most of the planet that good bundles and a price-cut where as inevitable as Rafa Benitez changing the Liverpool team, again. Anyone wishing to buy a PS3 even a couple of months ago would most likely have known that changes where afoot, and could have taken an informed decision about buying then or waiting for the cheaper option later.

The new model and price point is a shot in the arm for the PS3. As an existing owner, rather than feeling cheated, I feel excited by the PS3’s future, now more than ever.
