Incredibly, it’s already time for this year’s E3. In just a few days time (Sony’s press conference is on Tuesday) we’ll know so much more than we do today. Or, at least that’s the plan: sometimes these keynotes are dull and boring, but you can normally rely on Sony to throw in a few surprises (and memes).

So, what do TheSixthAxis think we’ll see? Let’s have a look…

75 – 100% Chance

  • New video of Killzone 2, game will be playable
  • Lots of new details on Resistance 2, game will be playable
  • LittleBigPlanet will be awesome, special demo section playable
  • WipeoutHD is done, download from the PSN Store on Tuesday
  • MotorStorm 2 will be playable, and looking great
  • Bioshock will be present and correct, plus news of sequel
  • We’ll hear more about Trophies, confirmation of new title support
  • Sony will push the PSP connectivity harder, again
  • Warhawk will get another update

50 – 75% Chance

  • Twisted Metal PS3 will be revealed, playable
  • Final Fantasy XIII will be shown in video form
  • Video teasers for Uncharted 2 and new Ratchet and Clank
  • Lengthy reveal for God of War III
  • Some form of ‘kart‘ game, Crash, LittleBigPlanet perhaps?
  • Lots of new PSN titles
  • News on the new video service, limited to the States
  • Gran Turismo 5 shown on video, Prologue to get damage and weather

25 – 50% Chance

  • Afrika shown, playable
  • Fully fledged SOCOM sequel announced
  • Heavy Rain shown in video format, due out this year
  • inFamous shown
  • New even slimmer PS2, massive price cut, new controllers

0 – 25% Chance

  • Home beta will be open to everyone after the conference
  • Talk of new firmware – in game video chat a possibility
  • New exclusives, Sony-owned studios
  • We’ll hear more about GTA IV downloable PS3 content
  • New PSP revealed, codename 3000. Contains phone.
  • Whatever crap that BBC editor was talking about will be shown

What did we miss?

Please note that all comments are the opinion of the individual author and not TheSixthAxis.

  1. 75 – 100 % : The new video download/rental service
More on Play TV and BD’s

    50 – 75 % : The Agency

    25 – 50 % : Home Beta this year.. ;-)

    0 – 25 % : The new Jak & Daxter game

  2. They had better release Wipeout HD – it’s been delayed for ages!

  3. I wonder if we ever will find out what that BBC journalist was talking about.

  4. Man, WipEout HD available right after the conference would be amazing. Been waiting along time for it. I think that if FFXIII is shown, I could die happty. Not just happy, but happty.

  5. Would be good to see the Wild west game By RockStar that was shown at E3 2005 too.

  6. Its all terribly exciting, i wonder if there will be 2 store updates next week fingers crossed. :)

  7. We /think/ there’s one on Tuesday, but don’t quote us on that… ;-)

  8. they probs jst gang raped the bbc reporter lmao

bt in all seriousness i would love to no wht he saw snds shit hot

  9. the Official Playstation Magazine just out also mentions there is a game that they really want to talk about but can’t… yet. Same thing as BBC guy? Fingers crossed for some more info.

  10. I WANT A PS3 BUT NOT A CRAPPY 40GB!

    25-50% Chance:

A new 80GB/+ PS3 with 2 Dualshock controllers for the U.K. as the premium and cheaper because of lower development costs… (Hopes!)

  11. No, they won’t bundle two controllers with it, even if they do announce that.

I do hope they’ll announce the 80gb for Europe/UK though.

  12. Think that sony are using europe to dump their sixaxis stock, doubt we’ll see dual shocks bundled until they all go.

  13. A new SKU… maybe a 120GB or 160GB to top the X360 elite, hard drives aren’t that expensive anyway and it may be a way that Sony can keep the ps3 at the price point

Sony may in the long term have to look at an SKU with a faster ‘read speed’ BluRay drive to help prevent game installs, I can’t amagine the current 1 X speed lasting 10 years like Sony plan

I’d like to see more exclusives announced both for the PSN & on BD

Play TV? thought this was already supposed to be out, and what about their deal with Sky TV, so us UK users can watch Sky on the PSP via the PS3 (I thought this was announced when the PS3 was released over here)
this would obviously compete with Sony’s own Location Free service, but Sony Corp need to realise that the PS3 will cannibalise other parts of Sony’s business.

It’s time for Sony to get real any make the PS3 as good as it can be (in every area), after all ‘08 is supposed to be THE year of the PS3, but it’s hardly making inroads into 360’s core market

  14. Announce Road Rash HD as an exclusive… I’d buy it ten times over

  15. @clarkec – I agree with an SKU with a bigger sized HDD but wouldn’t it just be easier to do it yourself, knowing Sony they’ll probably add £60 on for a 160gb. Also the PS3 does use a 2x Blu-ray drive and if they release one with a faster read speed this would render the current SKU’s 20gb(No longer in production), 40gb, 60gb(No longer in production) & 80gb inferior.
