Trophy Support Mandatory

No more holding on to games in the hope that a patch is released.

videogamer.com have reported that Sony will be forcing mandatory trophies on developers in January 2009.

What that means is that every new game published will have to support trophies or Sony won’t approve it. This is good news because it means no more trophy patches for games a couple of months after they’re released so no replaying games just for trophies. It also means nofi won’t be run ragged trying to keep the internet’s best PS3 trophy list up to date.

In an act of pure conjecture I’m going to predict that this might give the secondary market (pre-owned) a surge as people are no longer holding onto games for a few months waiting for trophies. Play, earn trophies, trade in. all within a week or two. This seems contrary to all other noises we’re hearing from the gaming world.

You can discuss this (and anything else you want to discuss) in our Forums. In fact, Ghost5 already is.
