Game are reporting profit rises all round in its figures up to the end of November.
11.2% like-for-like sales increase when the rest of the economy has seen a drop isn’t to be sniffed at and hopefully points to our beloved industry having what it takes to weather the storm.
Some cynics amongst you might point out the demise of independants forcing people to put their money in Game’s tills. Some might point to the fact that Game may be making money but developers are sacking staff all over the place. You might even point to the secondary market’s facility for making roughly another 50% of retail value exclusively for the retail side as being unfair profiteering or the newly announced rental scheme as being a money-spinner for Game but another nail in the coffin for developers.
I wouldn’t suggest any of those things but a more cynical person might.

Im beginning to think GAME are a bit of a narcotic , like , franchise !
They are brilliant …. Until it happens far to often . Leading to unemployment , ill health , starving children , death and even worse .. A nasty comedown !

Tbh over the past month, i usually browse a few game stores, 2 in cardiff (well 1 is gamestation,but ye same company) , 2 in weston super mare and 2 in llantrisant. Every time i visit theres a massive que,all the staff are stressed out because the people on the tills have the speed of downs. So ye i’m not suprised at all. If they’re paying employers minimun wage, then yeah they’re making mega profits.
I’ll never forget when a sales guy (ages ago!) from game tried to sell me a terribad game on the ps2 “sarges army” I’m always well on the ball with reviews! & i knew this game was utter bull spunk,so i tore him to pieces with gaming knowledge. any 1 else been offended in such ways? might just be me

Any time I go to game they’re pretty sound !
I have to travel by train to get there and yet they still recognize me ( forehead = mug ) the reason why , because I take about 3/4 of an hour picking a game or two ! LOL
They , on two seperate occasions, have even asked me along for beer and pizza on a game launch night !

Game have always fed me false information on releases… one time the bloke in the ASDA multimedia dept. was more accurate.
