Game are reporting profit rises all round in its figures up to the end of November.

11.2% like-for-like sales increase when the rest of the economy has seen a drop isn’t to be sniffed at and hopefully points to our beloved industry having what it takes to weather the storm.

Some cynics amongst you might point out the demise of independants forcing people to put their money in Game’s tills. Some might point to the fact that Game may be making money but developers are sacking staff all over the place. You might even point to the secondary market’s facility for making roughly another 50% of retail value exclusively for the retail side as being unfair profiteering or the newly announced rental scheme as being a money-spinner for Game but another nail in the coffin for developers.

I wouldn’t suggest any of those things but a more cynical person might.
