Gamespot Job Losses

Big website letting people go, maybe TSA will hire them?

None.

Gamesindustry.biz is reporting that CBS (who own CNet now) are merging entertainment divisions and folding Gamespot into their music and sports brands.

Basically this means that one of the internet’s best known and biggest Gaming websites is going to be losing staff which surely means a drop in quantity or quality of content. Perhaps even both. Maybe Nofi and Michael will hire some of them to work at TSA and then you can read news written by proper journalists instead of idiots like me. I’m sure we’d all like that.

CBS paid 1.8 billion US dollars for CNet earlier in the year so I’m sure they will be trying to get the best possible return on that investment. I just don’t see this as the best approach when the games industry is one of the few still posting profits. Surely consolodating their position and forming a schedule for growth would be a more pro-active way of trying to fight through the impending economic doom?

Well, I’m no economist so I’m probably wrong.

One thing I do know though, if Nofi decides to fold TSA into that secret website he runs about Nepalese Llama racing I’ll post a rant so long you’ll still be reading it when you can afford to pay your mortgages…
