Gamescom slaps Leipzig and shouts: All your games conventions are belong to us!

Leipzig Game Convention, previously scheduled for August 19th-23rd has been unceremoniously dumped by its organisers who are now focusing on a new show called Games Convention Online and scheduling it for July 31st-August 2nd.
The reason for the cancellation is undoubtably the rival German trade convention: Gamescom which had scheduled for the same weekend as Leipzig in a town called Cologne which is where all aftershave and perfume comes from. Fact.
So Leipzig is history but a different town will host a different convention and Germany continues to get Europe’s important gaming show. Weird considering that the UK is about to overtake Japan as the worlds second biggest video game market.
