The PSP Go! ‘leak’ seems to have done it’s job, with even the BBC feeling obliged to pick up on the story. Thankfully, this being the BBC, there’s a little more to the story that just the recycled Go! news: they’ve found time to confirm that the re-designed, slimmer PlayStation 3 won’t be shown at E3. “BBC News understands this will not be launched at E3,” says the article. “The new PS3 model will be out later this year. ”
E3 kicks off today, with Microsoft’s press conference scheduled for this evening. You can keep up with all the news from E3 2009 via our dedicated channel.

Not “launched”, but it could still be shown at E3?
“Here’s our new PS3. It’ll be out in October”. I can imagine something like that.

Not really. Saying that would kill all PS3 sales from now until October.
The weight of the rumours are already putting some people off from buying now.

That would explain the leaked video more, since Sony never intended to show PSPG at E3 it was the perfect time to generate the maximum amount of interest in this.

LOL that’s stupid, it says “it will not be launched at E3″ then goes on to say it’ll “be out later this year”
Announcement?
Something gets announced and then gets a “Fall” release

It’s a bit early in the lifespan for a ’slim’ model isn’t it? I could have sworn the PSOne and PSTwo came out after a longer lifespan for the original model…

It depends how cheap it is to make, as soons as the price hits the sweet spot they’ll make it, whether its 1 year or 10 years
