Despite some great review scores, sales of Mirror’s Edge never really reflected it’s overwhelmingly positive critique, a fact that hasn’t stopped EA’s Patrick Soderlund announcing that DICE have a “small team” working on “another Mirror’s Edge”.  It’s not actually clear whether he’s referring to a full blown sequel, or something lighter (like, perhaps, an iPhone title) but there’s definitely something planned.  “It’s just a matter of when that time is and what we do with it,” he said.

“Mirror’s Edge was a risky move. It was a bold move, a very innovative and inspiring move. The game wasn’t perfect by any means. We would have liked the game to sell better even though the game has sold better than most people think.”  If you didn’t pick up Mirror’s Edge, shame on you, it’s a great game and one that deserved much better success than it got.  Sadly, Soderlund couldn’t confirm any further details on the second title in the series, but when we get some more information we’ll pass it on.

I loved Mirror’s Edge! This is great news!

    • I can’t see my post!
      I’ll say again…great news! Love Mirror’s Edge!

      • it is there :)

      • Right, I know what’s up with the 1st comment bug, will fix now…

  2. Fantastic!

  3. Excellent, this was my game of the year so far! Completed 3 times and platinumed! Love love it.

  4. First one was alright, got too repetitive

  5. YES!
definitely glad to see this. ME was one of my favourite games at the end of last year. Glad to see EA keeping their “lets make good games” hat on as opposed to “lets milk this till noone buys it”

  6. I love Mirror’s Edge, but being my usual crap self, have got to a bit I can’t get past about half-way through.
Hopefully this is a full blown PS3 sequel, but the term “small team” makes me think this is more likely to be a Wii spin off like they did with their other new IP, Dead Space.

  7. Mirror’s Edge 2? Here’s hoping!! lol

  8. It was because it was so short, and was still at the top £35 -£40 in shops. I knew this, and still haven’t bought it. The demo was absolutely awesome, and I can’t wait to get this when the price comes down to something that represents the length of gameplay.

    • It was a Deal of the Week in GAME after only 2 weeks of release, I picked up up for £24.99.. You can prolly get a pre-own for around that now.

      • £14 on Amazon… :D

  9. I loved M E. I just got fully emersed in it and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. I’m really hoping this will be a sequel

  10. If anyone doesn’t have it yet, it’s currently £13 in Asda. At that price, it’s criminal NOT to own it.

  11. Hope it is a full blown sequel. I really liked mirrors edge although it had a few niggles but a sequel should hopefully improve on those. heres hoping

  12. Good news,

Congrats to EA for seeing the light and getting on board the ‘new IP’ train.

It would be nice if it’s an iPhone game though.

  13. I love to see a sequel to this, but I do think they need to fix the combat..

  14. Wasn’t a fan of the first one, but it has potential.

  15. I thought this game was very good, and releasing a 2nd will benefit the series for the reason’s mentioned in the TSA review, it needs more thogh and development but it has a great premise for a franchise
