We’re in the era of movie remakes this decade, and while we’re seeing many of the twentieth century’s biggest motion pictures get the CGI treatment of the new millennium, we haven’t seen many games take the spotlight. You could say that’s an understatement. We’ve seen the Silent Hill series grab its own Hollywood seat in 2006, and the Resident Evil series having it’s third film installment in 2007. There are are easily over forty productions that have been solely based on video games. But how many of these fims have actually become major hits?
With a next generation in gaming, we need a new load of game-based films, and Sony are stepping in with one of their leading titles. SCE confirmed today that they recently signed a contract with Columbia Pictures to create a film adaptaion of Naughty Dog’s 2007 ‘Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune’ to be produced by Avi Arad, Ari Avad, Charles Roven and Alex Gartner. Avi Arad is responsible for the ‘Spider-Man’ and ‘X-Men’ series and has worked alongside Ari Avad in productions such as ‘Iron Man’ (2008) and ‘The Incredible Hulk’ (2008). Charles Roven has given us the epic ‘Batman Begins’ (2005) and ‘The Dark Knight’ (2008) films, and Alex Gartner has handled witty one-liners through productions such as ‘Get Smart’ (2008). All of these names together brings a rather promising premise for the outcome of an Uncharted film.
Evan Wells, Co-Producer of Naughty Dog asks Blog readers “so who do you think should play Nathan Drake?” That is a very good question. Whether or not the casting process has been or gone, who would you say would make a great real-life Nathan? and who would be Elena Fisher? what about Sullivan? Guess away.

I heard Christian Bale was set to play Nathan but I think that was dismissed. The idea of an Uncharted movie does sound excellent.

I think Bale is too gritty for Drake. The characters a bit more optimistic and happy go-lucky than any of the characters I’ve seen Bale play.

Agreed. Bale wouldn’t fit the role.

I heard rumours of Matthew McConaghuay as Drake. Think that was in OPSM not too long ago. If they are true then I don’t think I can bring myself to watch the movie.

Sounds promising!
As for Drake, I honestly think Nolan North should play drake. He looks similar and acts and sounds like him! Plus he has been acting with the CGI suit. So for me it all fits.
Oh and Emily Rose should do Elena. She looks just like her and has is capable of doing some good acting.

I vote the original voice actors, I believe they’ve been in a few movies too.
Plus Avi Arad and Ari Avad seem as if they’re one person who has seen his name subjected to a few spelling mistakes.
I would definitely see this movie. There’s only a handful of films that could be made into a film, and the same the other way. This would be one that would work.

Yeah seriously, Avi Arad, Ari Avad, both directors, both done superhero films, yet still two different people!

Harrison Ford’s obviously a bit old now but would have been perfect. If it’s Shia Le’plank of wood’ boof I will not be going to see it as I will be hacking my own head off with a blunt instrument.

Great!
I had heard rumors about this a while ago.
Nice to see it come to fruition!
Especially with producers and directors like that.

Surely Nathan Fillion, while not necessarily a big enough name, would be a great Drake…

Mixed feelings about the movie. It’s good news for Sony and Naughty Dog though. Uncharted and Drake are going to hit the big time, in the process giving Sony the mega Halo-level IP they’ve craved for so long.

That defo sounds like a winning formula !
I reckon Ray Winston or Brian Cox would make an amazing sully , Megan Fox as Elena and Mathew Fox ( Jack from Lost ) as Nathan . Am I right ??

Brian Cox could fit as Sully, but otherwise NO to all counts. Sure Megan Fox is hot but how would she fit as Elena? Have you seen Emily Rose, she does the voice, looks very similar and is actually hotter than The Fox (imo). Mathew Fox as Drake? I just fail to see the comparison..

Matthew Fox for Nate would definitely not work.
Fox seems only capable of doing the ‘look into the distant and look like he’s going to be tough in a sec’ look. I really can’t see him being able to pull off the wit of Drake. Plus they don’t really look similar…

It’s maybe just the whole jungle thing that made me think he’d be good , lol .
Scratch that how about Will Ferrell as ‘Robert Goulay’

He would be perfect as Sully. If only we could get his younger self to play Drake as well… Nathan Fillion will have to do!

What about Kirsten Bell for Elena? I think she’d suit the role perfectly. A bit mouthy and very upfront with a taste for danger.
