Cast you minds back to the beginning of June at E3 and remember all the Assassin’s Creed 2 goodness that Sony revealed during their presentation. The good news, well for PlayStation owners at least keeps on coming as Ubisoft producer Frederic Lefrancois spills the beans on new features of both Assassin’s 2 and the forthcoming PSP title Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines and importantly how they work together.

Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines for the PSP follows directly after the events of the PS3 & 360 original, and exclusively explains the link between the original and AC2, if you want to understand Ezio’s background and where the Codex comes from you’re going to need to be getting the portable version. Bloodlines features the familiar assassinations with preliminary mission style gameplay, with the good news for PSP owners being that the title will feature eight new mission types.

The Sony love keeps on coming as Frederic goes on to talk about connectivity between the PSP and the PS3 version of AC2, “As players unlock health and Hidden blade upgrades in Assassin’s Creed 2 PS3, the same upgrades will be unlocked in Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines (PSP). It also works the other way round: on the PS3 you will be able to access any Templar Coins and special weapons you’ve collected on the PSP.”

Whilst we look forward to this new found connectivity, you can check out all the Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines gorgeousness in the trailer below.

  1. Why do they always feel the need to show it in a PSP case, so I the actual footage is really small…

    • dunno, perhaps to prove it’s actually running on a handheld.

    • Maybe because it would look like *** if shown in a bigger window :P

  2. I like having the trailers run on the console, though if they started using the PSP GO for these trailers, it will be of poorer quality. Anyhow, I think Bloodlines will be fantastic, especially because it is an actual Assassin’s Creed game, not some DS or mobile crop-off.

    • Just out of interest why do you say it would it be poorer quality if they used the PSPgo? Yes it has a slightly smaller screen but the comparison photographs and specifications indicate that the go’s physical screen is of higher quality compared to the 3000 (irregardless of the scan line issues some people have a problem with). Not that that would really have any effect with regards to the ‘quality’ besides maybe looking a bit nicer in the flesh (on the go due to said screen improvements) as they are producing the same graphical intricateness and visual splendour.

There’s also the fact that isn’t a real PSP displaying the game in the video…

  3. There’s going to be 8 extra weapons you can get in Assassins Creed 2 through Assassin’s Creed Blood Lines. They said so during the Sony press conference at E3

  4. Looks great, i’ll be adding this to my wishlist for christmas :)

  5. wonder how this will effect the PS3, 360 versions sales
maybe the PS3’s version will outperform the 360’s because of this feature.

    • Exactly,

This is why I’m surprised Sony don’t aid 3rd parties in supporting connectivity… or dual console owners it makes the which version to buy a no brainer.

      • they can do it with plenty of other games like GT5 and the upcoming metal gear for psp and ps3.

  6. can’t wait for this one, hope its better than the first one.

  7. We should have more PS3 / PSP linked games. I’m sure they promised more interaction between the two when the PSP was first released.

I’d like to be able to build-up stats on my PSP and then upload the to the full version PS3 game (make those long train journeys more productive!!)

    • I was thinking the same… mainly about FIFA’s manager mode… I’d be able to get through the seasons twice as quick

  8. Suppose I should buy a PSP then?

I love the Assassins Creed franchise.

  9. Can’t wait for both of these games.

  10. AC got slated but i thought it was good. This looks like an essential purchase for the PSP and i’ll be pre-ordering AC2. Good times

    • It got slated? I remember it getting really good reviews/scores. It certainly won several awards if my memory isn’t playing tricks on me!

I enjoyed AC too, looking forward to this PSP game and have already pre ordered AC2 :)

  11. Sounds really good!
Ubisoft seem pretty positive about AC2 and Bloodlines! And this is a good thing, as I hope they deliver their promises.

Assassins Creed 2 is looking amazing! :D

  12. Wow, how did I not know about Assassins Creed Bloodlines for the PSP, when I am so looking forward to AC3 for the PS3?

I think it’s safe to say that these will be the first games that I buy that that’ll incorporate interplayability (that is a word, right? ;) )

    BTW, the video looks excellent!

  13. i don’t like it when a new game is for the psp thats part of a series. But thats just because i don’t have one. They should do a port like liberty city stories. I’m tired of missing the links. Its happened with jak and daxter, resistance, god of war (i think)and now this with MGS going psp. I mean its great for somebody who has all the sony machines but i don’t have the money for that. I would like a little port or something

  14. i wonder if the controls are going to work ……

  15. This is quite exciting though for PSP owners, I loved the irst one and am glad they taking Altair’s story a little further. Another reason to hold onto that little bundle of joy I guess!
