It seems like the Wii, despite slowing hardware sales, still has the UK pretty much sewn up. That’ll be 6 Wii ‘games’ in the top 7, and only Mario Kart Wii is what I’d personally consider a ‘proper game’. Still, it’s good to see Fight Night Round 4 up there – EA’s fortunes in the charts are evident with a massive amount of games in there from the publisher.
Elsewhere it’s a similar story with regards to older titles: Call of Duty 4, Mario Kart DS and New Super Mario Bros show no signs of ever being unpopular, and although most of the chart is made up of shooters and licensed games, there’s still a few gems in there – Professor Layton, for example, amongst the three (count ‘em) fitness training games current forming much of the Wii’s line-up.

No wonder the games industry looks troubled. People are buying crap (imo :) )
It’s not until number 15 that I saw a half decent game (again imo :) )

Exactly. No wonder MW2 keeps creeping up in price. The serious gamers are the people that are going to suffer for it, people will hold off buying them new due to costs, price will increase again, circle repeats.

I only think that inFamous, Ghostbusters and Call of Jaurez were kl, the rest were too easy for the devs to make excluding HP6 although I never even liked that game, too many silly trophy glitches and EA won’t fix IT!!!
The only things from now on I’m going to use from EA is the EA Green and Red Poker Room loool

For all the fuss over initial sales figures, I see that Prototype is plunging down the chart quicker than a Cold War era Russian submarine while Infamous’ legs are holding up a bit better. One game each in the top ten for the two “main” consoles though, AND it’s an EA title! Meanwhile Nintendo have 10 of the top twenty titles. What a crazy crazy world we live in these days.

Wii Sports resort comes with Motion Plus,
Wii Fit comes with the balance board
EA Sports Active comes with the active stuff
Mario Kart comes with a wheel
Wii Play comes with the Wii Remote and 90% of people who buy the console buy it, to use as a second controller
lessons to be learned: If you are a games publisher and want your game to be top of charts for years in a row bundle it with something.
Most people aren’t buying the game which is appearing in the charts they’re buying the thing it comes with, and usually as an add-on at the same time as buying the console
I wonder if Sony bundled a second controller with LBP if that would climb up the charts.

The first Wii game which isn’t bundled with an accessory is Tiger Woods at #9 which is being outsold by FNR4 on both the PS3 & 360, and Sims3 on PC
Is the answer to strip these bundled products out the chart or for other manufacturers to get bundling? LBP would be perfect for that, and with an alternative of an 18 rated local multiplayer game as well.

nah, LBP should be bundled with a keypad instead, afterall, if you’re a young 7 year old, you’re going to find it frustrating to talk don’t you think?

The shape of the PS3 pad is hard enough for small hands to use, I think the keypad would be completely unusable

The wii titles are a bit wrong…
i have a wii:
i bought a pad -> you get wii play
i got wii motion+ -> came with a game (tiger woods, but could be sports res)
i got the balance board for boxing and snowboarding – wii fit comes with it
i bet lots of people get these games but only for the accessory’s they come with! wii play is the bigest joke as it not really a game, it teaches you how to use the controller!!!
nice to see FNR4 on the PS3 up there, good game!

It almost makes for sad reading. Charts from the PS2/Xbox/GC gen never looked THIS bad. Sure FIFA/Pro Evo always sold stupidly well (even if they weren’t good!), but at least the top 20 could have a few ‘proper’ games in it. This looks more like the videogame list a mum would produce when buying presents for Christmas:
“I’ll treat myself to Wii Fit, Fight Night for the boys, Motion Plus for little Sally, Tiger Woods for their dad…”
Maybe Japan’s charts would make me less cynical.

My thoughts exactly. There is a little bit of me that feels that the Wii is abomanation. Im not sure how Nintendo handles its 3rd party publishers but if you were a bean counter at a publishers surely you would be clambering all over Nintendo to make quick/cheap ‘mums and dads’ titles for the Wii, that will sell by the bucket load, rather than a multi-million dollar, average sellers for the PS3.

it really is amazing. I find it amazing that only about 4 games on the ps3 are in there. People will get bored of the Wii soon enough I think. It’s great but they can’t keep bringing out hew hardware that goes with certain games, people will click on in the end.
