Sony have confirmed to GI.biz that the UK pricing of the PSPgo when it is released on 1st October will be £224.99. The US and Europe paying exactly the same as they did at the PSPs original launch in 2005, $249 and €249 respectively.
It is just the UK paying a higher price at launch for the PSPgo as the original PSP cost £179 when we first got our hands on it. Much of the blame for the rise will be put on the weakness of the pound on international money markets but it will be interesting to see if the pound continues to strengthen as it has been doing recently whether the price will be dropped.
Those who snagged a pre-order price of just £180 when GAME made a mistake with their listing, that they have said they will honour, have indeed got themselves a bargain.

That price is indeed, shocking IMO. Why pay for a new product that has a smaller screen, looks gross and makes you buy new memory. Plus you can’t play your old games on it, until Sony sort out the digital copies available.

Sorry, not quite sure what you are saying. Sony aren’t actually the most successful company in the world. Infact going on this years figures, probably one of the worlds worst.

errm no, they have Sony Pictures Columbia, Sony Erricson, Sony PlayStation, Sony VAIO, Sony Vegas, Sony Online Entertainments, Sony TV Asia, SAB (Another Sony Channel), Sony Bravia, Sony Walkman, Sony EVERYTHING and a LOT more, so your comment is kinda useless n dull = )

Way too much in my opinion. You can bag yourself an elite 360 with 2 games or a PS3 for that price. I will definately be sticking with my PSP-1000

I’ve been thinking of getting another PSP, sold my jap import PSP-1000 ages ago but Sony seem to have bucked their ideas about the system recently. Needless to say, if I do, I will be getting a PSP-3000 & paying £115 less for a machine with more features (basically- the ability to play UMD games). Very bizarre pricing!

psp 3000 RRP is £140 the pspgo RRP is £225 – thats a difference of £85 rather than £115. Its up to retailers to frop the price below the RRP. Plus if you wanted gt for the psp than thats another 15-20 saved.

Madness! You could buy a PS3 Slim for a little more. Defo turning to the PSP-3000 now.

I’d get one if I didn’t already have a psp. I want the hard drive and to lose the UMD but I like teh bigger screen – I’d also like it to fit in my pocket though. At £225 it sounds a lot but I’d rather pay that for a 16gb pspgo than £215 for a 16gb itouch.

why does everyone keep going on about it fitting in your pocket, of all the jeans/trousers/shorts/jackets i own, there is probably one item i couldn’t actually comfortably fit my psp3000 into a pocket.
PSP-Go looks slick, but i think is a massive fail, especially with the pricing of the ps3 slim to compare it with, plus all the 360 options.

I realise I’m probably alone in saying this, but If I’m honest I was half-expecting Sony to announce it as £249.99, so this is actually quite a nice surprise. And when you take into account that you get GT PSP for free (which I was going to get anyway), in my opinion it isn’t that bad.

I believe its only free within a certain period from launch, around 10-14 days?

True, but if you’re planning on getting it in that time frame anyway (like I am), then it’s a pretty nice bonus.

Idon’t see why they would price the PSP the same as the PS3. That would just be ridiculous/.

I think its a case of they had to give us something free for what is an over-priced console. That said I am getting one on release but the pricing seems bizzare especially when you consider the PS3 new price tag.
I think sony will struggle to do well with the console. Which is a shame as it could go far.

Elite + 2 games would be higher up my list than that…

It’s expensive but I still want one (despite having a PSP-1000). I just need to find one of those job things I keep hearing about now! I had one until the middle of January but got made redundant.

The price is out of this world really for such a limited console.
I would sooner buy myself a 360 with a handful of games for that amount of money.

HAHAHA good luck with that one sony!
they expect people to fork out that sort of money when they could get another console, even a PS3 for a little more!

I think its a fair price.I’ll get one but my PS3 is about out of memory so i’ll get a slim first. It looks sweet!

I would get one if it wasn’t so expensive. I asked for a trade in price for my DS Lite in game today and i’d get £30 quid for it. Considering i paid past £100 or it there’s no way i’m getting rid of it. At least CEX would but it for around £55, but then i can’t get a PSP Go… Besides theres loads of games coming out lated this year that will be worth buying. Notably MW2, Assassins creed 2, GT5 and Uncharted 2.

£225 is too much for a PSP which has the same tech but now with a smaller screen. Should of concentrated R&D on PSP2 instead!
