DiRT 2’s looking like being one of the best off-road racers we’ve ever seen, and ever since our playtest we’ve been itching to get our hands on the finished article. This new television advert, which started airing on UK TV at the end of last week, demonstrates the intense nature of the game with some great in-game footage mixed with those day-glo graphic overlays. Neat stuff. The game’s out on the 11th of September, next Friday.

  1. I thought that with Sony publishing it they would of had the footage coming from the PS3 and advertising the Playstation at the end as well.

    • Likewise, I was somewhat surprised to see ‘Footage from xbox 360′ the other day.

      • Sadly, I think that makes it very clear which will look better. If they’re comparable graphically, there’d be no need for the disclaimer.

        I wait with baited breath.

    • I thought its just the PS3 version being published by SCEE so that could be a codemasters ad

      • The disclaimer has to be there not because of a difference between PS3 and 360, but the differences between the versions on the PSP, DS, and even the Wii and the 360/PS3. It’s always really hard to notice any slight difference between PS3 and 360 graphics anyway, and even harder on standard definition TV than HD, I bet.

  2. Nice, “Coming to a living room near you”. What a great way to advertise a game

  3. May well pick this game up when it’s cheap… But then again I’ve said that about Batman: Arkham Asylum and The Beatles: Rock Band as well!

    • Get Batman now. You won’t regret it.

      • For £40 I can pretty much guarantee I’ll regret it… I haven’t bought a game worthy of my £40 since Rock Band 2; I’m trying to get games cheaper nowadays seeing as they’re just not as long as they used to be.

  4. Pre-ordered this off ShopTo. Looking forward to it!

  5. Cracking trailer… but disappointed to see the 360 footage. Is the PS3 footage /that/ bad? :(

    • I’d guess the PS3 footage is very similar judging by the demo, I just reckon Microsoft pay to get the 360 footage on multiplatform game advertisements. I can’t remember an advert for a multiplat game yet that has showcased the PS3 footage rather than the 360’s.

      • I can’t remember what game, but there was a sports game (I think) that was released the past 3 months or so that said “Footage from PS3″, so it happens sometimes…just not a lot.

      • Ah wait, I remember now. It was Virtua Tennis 2009 :)

  6. Trust me, ps3 owners don’t have a thing to worry about, it’s easily the best looking racer I’ve ever seen. hasn’t anyone downloaded the demo???

    • I did, in fact I think quite a few people from here will have done seeing as TSA ran a competition based around it. :D

      • Yeah?? Missed that personally…
Seams as though a few might not have played it if they’re questioning the graffics though..

  7. like the demo will get this game soon but liek the look of need for speed shift

  8. Nice ad. I enjoyed the demo but not really my type of game.

  9. The demo was fairly good, great graphics and presentation plus realistic handling, but maybe not THE most fun game going.

  10. I thought the demo was pretty good, the game wasn’t really on my radar until recently so I may get it if it goes cheap cos I’m starting uni soon and won’t have money to burn ha.

  11. Fantastic trailer, must remember to go out for the sympathy vote after i’ve had my stitches removed, fingers crossed mother bear will feel sorry for me and pre-order it :)

  12. Looks awesome but I’m not a driving game fan. I get bored to easily of winning or losing races. Burnout is the only driving games that’s kept my attention for that long.

    • Same here really. I only enjoy Burnout really.
On street racers I find racing boring but spending the cash fun. ;)

  13. I really enjoyed the demo, and the soundtrack is immense. Watching my run while prodigy or madina lake blares out is superb. Unfortunately the lack of offline multiplayer may ultimately drive (no pun intended) me a away from this. It’s a shame, I have no multiplayer offline racers and this would have been the perfect fit.

    • Just for info buddy “Motorstorm: Pacific Rift” is great fun multiplayer offline especially as it has a big bunch of computer AI cars involved in the race. I know you feel as I find this really frustrating. I love having games nights with my mates and it’s such a shame that this is the only one I’m aware of that we can race on PS3.. GT: Prologue just isn’t the same as there are no other cars.

  14. Since I enjoyed the demo so much, i will surely buy this one…
