On Thursday we revealed the list of titles that are being designed to take advantage of Sony’s new motion controller, The Wand. The list obviously includes a healthy amount of new titles but surprisingly includes a handful of existing titles, games like Flower and Pain seem like they’d fit perfectly but the two which raised eyebrows were Resident Evil 5 and LittleBigPlanet. Now thanks to some cam footage from TGS we get to see one of those titles in action, you should be able to see that Sackboy is being controlled by one player using a standard controller and second player using ‘The Wand’ to manipulate the environment. To save myself the embarrassment of trying to explain it’s probably best if see for yourselves but the co-op play looks great.

It really looks funny but it looks too much at wii….. I don’t think this will be for the hardcor gamer;)

me too, but still thinks this is better than wii, my little sister has a wii, the remote sucks, cuz if u remove it from the screen it will go all confusing, its the same if too low or too far to the side. i heard about something, that the wand will co-op with the PS Eye

Wow ! That looks great. Does anyone else think the wands look like skipping rope handles with ping pong balls on top? Better than the previous DIY store piping at least

Looks a bit rubbish to me. Well rubbish perhaps not the right term, just not for me? Prefer co-op with the two characters on screen, that’s more Zak and Wiki than LBP.

That looks brilliant. The umbrella and the catching Sackboy in the bucket are smashing ideas.
Also, that clearly isn’t for the hardcore, but then, neither really is LBP for the FPS loving hardcore gamer. I would love to play LBP with the wand.

Yeah I thought the umbrella section was a great idea for a wand use! Tres impressed.

I think they will be able to come up with loads of great ideas for it. It’s just the implementation really. You need two people to play it now, you can’t play it like that alone.

Nothing exciting. It was basically like RE4 on the Wii, but the guy demonstrating it was also holding a DualShock 3 to move Chris around. Now IMO, that would become annoying after a while.

Can’t wait. This opens up many opportunities for LBP in particular. Would like to see the wand used in more current games though.

That has left me feeling a bit meh.
I hope Sony really pull it off with this, but after a year and a few months of being a Wii gamer I find this unoriginal and quite a lame use of motion-sensing.
Not being a fanboy, as I’m a fellow PS3er now but still, this does look very basic and boring motion-sensing and it appears those Japanese people are forcing a smile.

That was a brilliant vid, actually showing the capabilites of co-op play. I was also good to see that the players didnt know the level like the back of their hands, and had troubles with some parts. lol @how the girl took so much pleasure in killing the man…

Yeah, I laughed at the bit where the girl “accidentally” crushed Sackboy!! When the guy slowly turned his head to look at the girl as if to say WTF do you think you’re doing!!! Priceless!!

I’ve just watched this again, and it really is amazing, obviously its a well designed level so it can take advatage of the motion controls, but the co-op opportunities are brilliant.
Hopefully it will launch with some media molecule created levels, and a new search filter so you can search online easy to find compaatible user created levels

Yeah, the possibilities do look promising. It’s definitely a different take on the usual 2 player co-op modes where there are 2 characters on screen at the same time. This definitely has the opportuntity to reinvigorate some older games for me!!

Cool, decent use of the wand there. Looks like the gameplay mechanics of it need a bit of ironing out but otherwise I look forward to it! It makes the game even more pick-uppable to casual audiences. Now I’d just like to see if it can do anything special in create mode…

hes using both the controller and the motion controller at the same time? Isn’t that a bit awkward?

well you do have access to the d-pad the left anologue stick and L1 and L2 (L3)..thats 7 buttons you can use there..its not that much of a biggy, i could use my DS3 in one hand and be able to move the wand (if i had one obviously) because its reasonably light anyway…we’ll see when its released, but it is a handy way of combining the two…maybe, they will release a sort of half DS3 closer to launch?? similar to the ‘nunchuck’ but literally a DS3 cut in half..

If they did cut the controller in half, it would basically be a copy of the wii controller n numchuck.

Looks really fun in co-op and could perhaps be used in the level creation too?
Just a shame if you wanted to play single player you couldn’t really use the wand.

I had the exact same thought, that manipulation of pieces and building objects could be helped out a lot with the use of the wand, especially with resizing and placement of things.
