Typo, or leak of the day? Could be either, although it now looks like Final Fantasy XIV isn’t just for the PS3 and PC, because this LinkedIn profile (as spotted by SiliconEra) suggests it’s heading to the Xbox 360 too.

“Final Fantasy XIV” for PC, PS3, Xbox360, says the resume of the lighting lead for the game.

Of course, this is hardly surprising news (Sony said the PS3 would be the only console FFXIV would be on at launch) but this, as far as we can tell, is the first time anyone’s mentioned an Xbox 360 version.  Wonder how many disks it’ll be on?

  1. TSA competition time! 7 disks?

    • 5 and a half

      • 3.3 recurring ofcourse

      • Leeerrroooyyyy Jeeennnkkkiinnnnsss

  2. Wouldnt surprise me if it were to go multiplat from here on in. You cant argue with the power of money…..can you?

  3. i thought the major problem about a 360 version were the restrictions of the XBL network. maybe they were able to work something out with Microsoft?

    • Yep – though it was always stated that they were going to work something out and that FFXIV was planned for the 360, too.

  4. Just a question as too how long the exclusivity is then, like Splinter Cell: Conviction and Mass Effect/2

    • I dont wanna sound bitter or anything but MS have unlimited money so I imagine if anyone will be losing exclusives it will be Sony. Microsoft can just pay their way through the advances.

Splinter Cell and Mass Effect, I assume, will be safe.

      • Well they didn’t with every other ‘exclusive’ they’ve secured
Bioshock, Fallout 3 DLC & GTA IV DLC… they were all cast iron promises from Microsoft they they were 100% exclusive, they have not said that about SC:C & ME/2.

In fact an off-guard developer said the opposite about Splinter Cell and Mass Effect is a certainty

      • @ Roynaldo

I’d disagree with that. Most Sony exclusives are from in house Studios so MS’ money can’t buy them if Sony want to keep them. More MS exclusives are from external studios and as a result usually go multi-platform eventually.

What MS and Sony need to do is look to buy a major studio – the more even the market gets the harder these exclusive deals will be to pull off.

    • Dont think it will be as long as FFXI, I did hear that they were going to try to get people from XI to XIV, so i would think only a few months or so so they can ease people in.

    • Both Splinter Cell: Conviction and Mass Effect 2 will be announced for the PS3 this year. I’d be shocked if they’re not.

    • Would love both of those on PS3!

      • Tru Dat Dawg!! Err…i mean….. Yes Sir I concur. *slaps self*

    • Why? It won’t affect me, as an owner of a PS3, in any way. It’s just spiteful to say that I want a certain game, but I don’t want half the gaming world to have it, just because I like exclusives.

      • Well, I’m Irish. I love my euros. I can spend them in so many countries too. :) We gave up our pounds ages ago!
Triggerhappytel, I agree wholeheartedly. More money for the developers means a better Final Fantasy XV, and surely that is better for PS3 owners instead of not allowing some people not to play a game because they are too ‘poor’ (like me :( ) to own both consoles?

      • Yay! Fellow Irish!
But onto the subject, I don’t really mind if it comes on the 360 but like TheShepanator said, is more than likely going to take several discs. And I have no clue how that could work on an MMO.

      • Yea I would prefer Euros ! Try using Sterling in Europe now and its terrible (except Turkey) .  I used to be against it but now im coming round .

    • What are you talking about; why’s it a shame…?! The way I see it the more platforms games like this come out on then the more money to developers to make more such games.

If you want to focus on exclusives there is plenty of first or second party Sony stuff to enjoy and look forward to.

  5. It was announced from the beginning. First it’ll come out on PC and PS3, then on 360.

  6. Was there ever any doubt?

  7. And er..Nofi.. :) http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2009/06/03/ff-xiv-isnt-exclusive-at-all/

    • The PS representative (sorry, i suck at remembering names) only said PS3 will be the only console XIV will be launched, during the presentation. There was no word “exclusive” at all. There also was no 360 version confirmed in that article.

  8. when games this huge go to Xbox its really shows its technological downfall, I think it needs 3 discs for the next FF and maybe more for the one after that, compressed audio, reduced textures maybe…PS3 will continue to shine, exclusives or not.

  9. Perhaps xbox 360 players can’t play with thier PC or PS3 counterparts?

    • I see no reason why the 360 version can’t be coded to play with the PC version at least. I thought that the architecture of the 360 is very similar to the PC. Isn’t that one of the reasons that the PS3 sometimes gets inferior ports? I would love any game where all the PS3 fanboys could team up against the 360 fanboy team and play against each other in a MAG sized match. I really would love to see cross-compatible games. Are they possible?
