It's not just Gears of War.

We’re assuming Uncle Cliff is going to talk about this as well as Gears 3 on Monday, then.  Shame, because the first glimpse of Epic’s new shooter Bulletstorm is in this month’s GameInformer mag, which has hit subscribers before Bleszinski’s appearance on some American TV show we’re happy not to have heard of.  He’s not having a good week, really, having been shunted back from his slot on Thursday (which Microsoft clearly weren’t privy to) and having the Gears of War 3 party spoiled too.

You’ll remember Bulletstorm, right?  It was the game trademarked last December and is presumably the “new IP” hinted at back in 2008 in this press release.  Still, whatever, Bulletstorm sounds cool, and from the look of the scans floating around just now, looks nice enough too, if not unlike recent Epic output at least.

However, of most interest to anyone not overly found of first person shooters is the presence of writer Rick Remender, author of comic series (calm down, Raen) Fear Agent, who says he was contacted by Epic to pen the game’s script twelve months back.  Remender calls Bulletstorm “groundbreaking” although at the moment it all sounds a little bit too comic book for my tastes, with lots of genre staples:  drunken pirates, 26th century soldiers, a “psychotic” angle…  Still, let’s see what Cliffy says on Monday…
