PSN Premium, PSN+, whatever, it’s coming, and despite all the rumours and speculation, it’s taken the boss to confirm it. In some capacity, at least.
Andrew House, president of SCEE, confirmed that PlayStation 3 owners would be getting a “premium” level PlayStation Network soon in his The People vs Andrew House article on PlayStation.com yesterday.
“I can assure you that the current PSN as you know it will remain a free service,” he said. “It is something that our competitors don’t offer and something that shows our loyalty to the PlayStation Community.”
“However,” he adds, when asked whether there’d be a paying service, “Kaz Hirai stated a few months ago that we were looking at a premium service to sit alongside the current free service and that objective has not changed.”
“You’ll learn more about it very soon.”
He also said Gran Turismo 5 will be “out soon” and on the subject of Cross-Game Chat, Sony know that it’s “something that the community wants” and says they’ll have an answer on when it’s coming “very soon”.
