Nyko Announce Move Chargers

It might not quite be E3 yet, but some people are already talking about what they’ve got coming. Amongst the first to spill the beans is accessory manufacturer Nyko. The company have just announced the three new products they’ll be showcasing at E3 later in the week. It seems that they’ll have two new PS3 controllers and also be jumping on the Move bandwagon.

Whilst I’m fairly certain that Sony have probably got their own way of charging your new motion controllers, it’ll probably be through some sort of USB cable. What are you, a barbarian? Plugging things into cables, who really wants that? Nyko feel your utter disgust at the mere suggestion of such a thing, and as such are introducing their Move charging stations. As far as charging stations go they’re actually fairly nice. It looks like both the Move and the Sub will have charging points on the base, so Nyko have capatalised on this by having your controllers dock upright into the stations. In all honestly they look surprisingly stylish and dare I say cool. Maybe that’s just me. You can get your charging stations in both two and four controller capacities, and it looks like you can mix and match your Moves and Subs.

If you prefer your gaming in a less motion and more sit on the sofa style Nyko have got you covered too, with their new Raven controller. Apparently it comes with ‘Multi-Axis Technology’, which I assume is SixAxis technology, and comes in two variants. The normal variant is laid out exactly the same as an official Sony controller, but they also have an alternative laid out like a 360 controller with left analogue stick and d-pad switched. I don’t know how well Sony fans will receive it, although I actually prefer the 360 layout.

Again these look pretty cool, but also look like they fail as a controller. For some reason they seem to have made the grips for your hands far to wide, and it actually looks a little pointy in places. Not the comfort you really want in a controller. The controllers also make no mention of rumble functionality, which is a little disappointing.

Finally they’ve announced their Core controller, for those of you who prefer your gaming in a wired fashion. I mean really I miss having to trip over cables. However don’t worry about being chained to your PS3 too much, as they come with a ridiculous 9-foot USB cable. At that length you may as well go wireless. These controller look like a more traditional DualShock controller, and feature rumble. However unlike the Raven there’s no mention of the ‘Multi-Axis Technology’, which seems unusual for a PS3 controller.

Any how now that you know all about this mixed bag of accessories, take a look at the gallery below and let us know if you’ll be picking them up.

  1. wired controller? really? wired? really?

  2. Clearly from the charging stations, the company can design things that look nice… Yet they failed to do so for the controllers – they look a bit nasty really. I’ll stick to my official controllers thanks.

    • I think the Raven actually looks kinda cool if it was, for example, a stealth plane. As a controller it stinks.

    • I’ll be getting the chargers, with them being all glossy and such but the controllers just look like something you’d get for a tenner.

    • The Move chargers look good but it still won’t be buying the Move.
      Yes the controllers look crap.

  3. The charging docks look nice, the controllers look horrible. Like really horrible.

  4. That 360-like controller is awful..
It is kinda depressing to look at it..
    =/

  5. the controllers look like something you would get from the pound store down the road.. Charging docks look swish though. Spent all their budget on that me thinks.

  6. Agreed. The Move stand is downright lovely! The rest is pure crap. :-)

  7. It tends to be with unofficial playstation controllers that they don’t work as well or for as long. On the plus side they’re cheap. So I’m guessing if you just needed the odd extra controller for when your friends are round or something then it’s worth a look into getting one. Plus, it’ll give you something to talk about. Mainly the how bad the controller looks? :/

As for the PS3 docking station erm.. well. I don’t use them, as I’m quite capable to plug my controllers in to the ps3 to charge.

    • I had some unofficial ones on the PS2 and it started coming apart after the first week. Had to tape it up to make it work

  8. Already!?
Hedging their bets a bit, no?

  9. Charging docks look cool!

  10. The charging docks look really cool…

I already have a charging dock for DS3 controllers (2x) plus it has 4 extra USB ports to connect the rest (2 USB ports on the Slim is just too few…), I have it out of sight behind my PS3 though :P
