34Sucker Punch’s inFamous might have been one of PlayStation Plus’ first ‘try before you buy’ games, but it appears that it’s available to everyone anyway, at least over in the States. One of Plus’ main features was the ability for gamers to demo a couple of PlayStation 3 games each month, downloading the whole thing and playing for an hour.
Well, if inFamous is anything to go by, it looks like regular, nonplussed PS3 owners will still be able to buy and download the full versions of games as they hit the store, they just won’t be able to give them a test run first. inFamous is an odd game to start with, it’s such a high profile title that most will have already bought it anyway, but it’s worth noting that the download is 7GB, which is quite a whopper.
Update: early reports suggest inFamous is gameshareable. Odd.
In addition, Japanese gamers have awoken to find their Store is now PlayStation Plus ready (SCEE are yet to update) and it looks like they get Little Big Planet too for subscribing, alongside Toro Mini Golf, Pain, Echochrome and some avatars, all included in the fee.
We’ll have more from PlayStation Plus once the European version goes live.

“There is no way this is possible on the 360 because it fills the Blu-ray”
I’d have thought the game data was quite small, but it was the tutorial audio which filled the disk, they must have simply compressed it.

Was this sentence spoken with regards to LBP?

theres no way they can compress LBP to 2GB, thats definatly not the full version.
theoretically they can but uncompressing it for the player would take forever and there would also be quality loss wouldnt there?

I’m just curious which features people or happy to lay out their cash for with this playstation plus thing. To me it’s a load of old nob. The only worthwhile part is the background downloading which isn’t worth the fee alone.

The included games, discounts & the one hour free play for me.
I get quite a bit off the PSN and it would pay for itself within about 3-4 months for me… Plus once the 1hr free play games has caught up with new releases it will help ensure the games I do part with£40 for I won’t be wasting it on a duff

even if you already have some of the content, you will still make up for the fee by downloading all the other stuff.
next year you might say “ive already got this” but the people who got the same content with PSN+ will have saved more.
ofcourse this isnt for everyone, ive never supported DLC so i wont get this. DLC most of the time is included in improved physical copies of the game anyway.

What? In example, Fat Princess or Savage Moon DLC wasn’t included in the physical copy simply because there’s no physical copy! They’re all digital from the start! :S
I don’t get your point regarding those.

Tbh mate, I thought the same. But the games you get to play for free (while subscribed) make it seem worthwhile.
I mostly only play games once anyway so I would only paying a fraction of the price compared to buying it outright.
I’m actually trying to convince myself that it’s worth it :-P

Apologies for double post but just to add.
If I did take out PS+, I wouldn’t buy any games until they came down in price or was free.

I play so many games just once, either rentals which often get posted back someday or PSN purchases as they sit there doing nothing whilst I have “just a quick blast on Warhawk” which turns in to a full map rotation & a couple of hours

I’m usually a 1 game at a time person, but I like a collection so all my disc based games just collect dust.
I thought about getting Warhawk once. Wish I did, but I’ll most likely get Starhawk if it’s as good though.

maybe if the rental of “full version games”would be ALL ps3 titles it would be worth it but just INFAMOUS..??? yes its a great game i have and finished it an im guessing so has 99% of ps3 owners have aswell. maybe in the future there will be more to choose from but as for now its still not worth it.. for me anyways..

Odd, I thought it filled the Blu-ray because of all the audio in it’s tutorials

Rented inFAMOUS & played it for about an hour before getting bored going endlessly from map marker to map marker repeating similar tasks over & over… So I think I’ll save my download cap & give it a miss, even though I’ll be picking up PS+

It’s just side quests to control the territory, they may be similar to each other but they are very short to do, that’s why i liked them. You don’t need any of those to progress in the main story, but if you conquer the territory there’ll be less enemies on your way by; there also are special side quests, good and bad ones, no matter which one you choose (they only let you do them when you have enough good or bad rep) you may still get a choice of doing a good or bad thing, it’s not a one way ticket either way – you’ll need those for special powers.
