Codemasters has announced that Stuart Black will be leaving the Bodycount team come October.  Black – who has claimed Bodycount’s exploding crates will be like a “fucking opera” – became the game’s figurehead due to his passionate PR push.  When we say passionate, we mean loud and sweary.

Codemasters has said the following;

“Having created a great vision and direction for Bodycount, Stuart has decided to move on after three years with us.

He will see out his design role until October and, through the transition period, will continue to work with the talented development team that will take the game through to completion.”

No other reason has been given at this time.  I personally am quite surprised bearing in mind how much energy Black has for the game.

  1. That’s a very very strange move. I mean, he’s been spouting all this stuff that “This is the game I want to and love to make.” So if it’s his pet game, why is he moving on?

    This seems to suggest that a) he’s been forced out, b) he’s unhappy with the game and where it’s going, or perhaps c) he’s got some personal family issues which means he needs to step aside for the time being.

    Or if it’s none of the above, then it’s still very odd.

  2. Fucking hell! (Obligatory use of expletive)

  3. “Post E3 Fallout” is to blame. Whatever that means.

    • New Vegas? :P

  4. I don’t get it either. Why step down now after all this time and effort?

  5. Seems odd. He seemed to really love the game. That probably mmeans hes being forced out.

  6. and no comment from black himself?
    this story could get complicated.
